Ultrasound #2
August 17, 2002

I had my second ultrasound on the 15th. I had the most incompetent u/s tech in the world! She tried to convince me that 18 weeks was still way too early to tell the sex! I told her a couple of times that I found out with my other kids at this time, but she wouldn't even look. Finally at the end she looked a little but just told me again it's too soon. So we still don't know. Deb and I decided that it's for the best anyway and it will be nice to have a surprise at the end.

But the rest of the ultrasound went well. The baby was measuring 17weeks 2days instead of 18 weeks, so my due date has been changed to January 21, 2003. So of course I'm only 17 weeks 4 days now, so it might be a little confusing since that's what my dates were in my journal last week! And everything else looked just fine with the baby.

Here are some pictures:

Then on the 16th was the fetal ecg. Deb and I made the trip (1.5 hours for me, 3 hours for her). We expected the appt to take a long time because Doug takes Michael to the same office for his ecgs and ultrasounds and he said it can take anywhere from 1-4 hours depending on how busy the specialists are. Our appt was for 3:10 and we got called in at 3:50, which I actually thought was pretty good..

So I got back in the room and the guy that was performing the test was really great. He knows Michael so he talked to me a little about him, and then got to work trying to see this baby. Well, it turns out that the baby has a mind of it's own. It was lying transverse with it's spine pointing towards my belly button so the guy couldn't get any pictures of the heart! No matter what he tried, the baby would not move! So we have to go back in 2 weeks and see then! I told Deb that I hope she's prepared for a stubborn baby!

Deb and I then went to visit the twins (I'll post an update about them in my first journal). And then we went our for supper with our friend Mel and her son. So all in all it was a very nice time, but it would have been nice if the baby cooperated!

I'm still feeling very well. If I weren't so tired I wouldn't even know I was pregnant.
