Elwood married Joyce Theresa Bourliea on 30JAN1946. Together, they had 3 children; Ernie Sons, Linda Sons, and Ronald Sons.
Elwood was killed in an automobile accident on 04JAN1954, which also took the life of Ronald Sons.
