Upon graduating from Memphis State University in 1988, Jim cut his recording teeth in Memphis, TN under the guidance of Stax Records veterans Robert (T.D.) Jackson, Homer Banks and Lester Snell. He spent countless hours with audio masters Terry Manning and Jim Gaines working on major artists ZZ Top and Albert Collins at Memphis Sound Productions. Returning to his hometown of Chicago in 1991, Jim took a position at Streeterville Studios. While on staff at Streeterville, Jim gained more experience working with advertising clients as well as individual artists and bands.
After seven years at Streeterville Studios, Jim decided to go freelance and formed JBG Audio, allowing him to work in his choice of large format recording facilities, as well as his own Pro Tools hybrid studio.
An expert in MIDI programming as well as digital editing and hard disk recording, Jim is capable of taking a project from pre-production to final CD mastering with an end result that rivals most productions commercially available. With many years of professional recording experience his main goal is achieving a relaxed and creative environment (vital for excellence in performance energy).
In addition to recording, Jim has recently produced several projects and finds the dual position of engineer/producer very challenging and rewarding.
