Unguided In Alaska
When we landed in Anchorage, Alaska at 12:05 a.m. and by now we had already been on three airplanes.  What we did not realize is that the flying was only half over.  We stayed at the Barrett Inn in Anchorge and were able to get 6 hours of sleep before catching a taxi to Merril field.  We flew from Merril field on an 8 seater plane which took us to Port Alsworth.  In port Alsworth we paid for our licences and looked around for a bit and then we got on the next plane.  This plane took us from Port Alsworth on a four seater to New Stu which is an indian village with a federal landing strip next to it. We got to meet lots of indians who were riding around on four wheelers.  The village was quite large for the location and had a church and restraunt.   From New Stu we flew in a super cub which is just one hunter and the pilot.  Then they come back to New Stu and get the other hunter and take him to camp as well.  The super cub flight was about 30-45 min depending on the wind direction.  To make sure that they have enough fuel they siphon the gas out of the four seater planes into 5 gallon containers and use this fuel to fill the super cubs up.  All this happens very fast.  There are moments of no action, almost lazy day sitting in the sun, followed by moments of mass action to get planes unloaded and reloaded and taking off agian before the weather changes.
