Ministries
Often times we view
church as just a Sunday morning experience. We, at Jacobstown Baptist Church,
feel that church should be much more than that. We believe that church is the
institution, specifically created by God, that is designed to help us live like
the God of the Bible. This web site is designed to explain our ministries and
how they fit into this concept of the church.
Each ministry has a different function and purpose. Taken as a whole they
are designed to provide each person with the support they need to live their
daily lives for Jesus Christ. We would encourage every person to attend the
number of services that will best help them become more like Jesus Christ.
Sunday
Worship
This service is specifically designed to be centered around God and how He is revealed to us in His Word, the Bible. The truth of God is ministered to the people in two primary ways, through music, and through the preaching of the Bible. This corporate time together is our chance to praise and adore the God we love.
Sunday Evening
We do not have any type of regular service on Sunday Evenings. The purpose for that is to try and provide more time for our families. We encourage everyone to then use another evening as a designated ministry night. This may include going to a growth group, having a neighbor over for dinner, a nursing home ministry, etc.
Adult Bible Fellowship
This time of Bible study is held during our children’s Sunday School hour. The purpose of this time is to teach the Word of God. Time is taken each year to study, verse by verse, a book or two from the scriptures. Interaction and participation are welcomed.
Wednesday Evening Prayer & Praise
There are two main purposes for Wednesday evening. The first purpose is to provide an opportunity for our church to meet together for prayer. We believe that enlisting the power of God is the most important thing that we can do for our ministries. If God does not empower our ministries, then we will fail. As much time as needed is given to the taking of prayer. The second purpose for Wednesday evenings is to provide a time of encouragement. This encouragement is done through the singing of songs and through a short teaching time from God’s Word. This is a great time for those who have been involved in those ministries on Sunday mornings that do not allow them to be a part of our services.
Adult
Bible Studies
We realize that most of our spiritual growth happens because of our interaction with God’s Word in our daily lives. Our Growth Groups are designed to provide small group settings that specifically allow us to apply Bible truths to those issues that we are facing in our lives at the present time. A problem at work arises? Bible Studies will be there to take the time to walk through the Bible’s answers to that specific problem. They are also a great way to introduce Jesus and our church to new folks.
