Clarence Leiter – Michael Pate
Clarence Leiter meets James Bond in the casino early on. Bond teaches him the rules of Bacarrat, while Clarence explains what Bond has to do on his mission there. He loses sight of Valerie later in the game when she is stolen and assists Bond in whatever ways he can throughout the mission.

Villians
Le Chiffre – Peter Lorre
The dangerous Le Chiffre poses as a threat to Bond when they finally engage in the game of Baccarat. Le Chiffre ultimately loses the game, which cannot happen, because he needs the money in order to survive.
He later corners James Bond and Valerie in his apartment, demanding they tell him where the check for the money is. He tortures Bond when he doesn’t tell and is then later caught between a fight. A bullet finally brings him down.
Memorable lines:
“In fact, my life depends upon finding that check. So, by the way, does yours!”
Girls
Valerie Mathis – Linda Christian
Valerie Mathis has had a past relationship with James Bond before, which is why she is the prime candidate for the villainous Le Chiffre to use against him. They meet at the casino, but Bond’s charms overcome her, and she tells him all about the plans.
Later on, she stops the torture the villains are doing to Bond and survives the fight that occurs afterwards.
