January 25, 2002 through February 10, 2001

Well, I lost the notes that I was keeping detailing when things were happening, so this is roughly what got done in this period. The drywall was all installed and "smoothed" (actually it is all textured). After the doors were fitted, they went through and painted all the walls and doors. The exterior stucco was all completed. Also, looks like the master bedroom closet was upgraded with extra rods and shelving. I had taken some picutes, but the shutter on the camera screwed up and the pictures did not turn out at all. UNRELATED NEWS, we got two little kittens (Orion and Sirius) who are hellians, but very cute. Eventually we will get some pictures up the web and I will have a link on the front page.




February 11, 2002

The driveway and sidewalk were poured. May make it a bit more difficult for the pool people.




February 12, 2002

The stucco was mostly painted and prepping of the roof was done for the tiles. Also, learned that the pool salesman screwed up and lost the paper work. I will have to resign the paperwork--definitely will cause a delay, but I am no longer responsible for any access issues.




February 13, 2002

The outside is fully painted and the roof tiling has begun. The garage door, cabinets, interior lights, and electrical covers were all installed.




February 14, 2002

The roof is complete.




February 16, 2002

The vinyl flooring was installed in the kitchen, laundry, and bathrooms. The kitchen counters are in and the outside lighting is up. All of the appliances were installed (stove, dishwasher, microwave, refridgerator, and dryer) except for the washing machine. Looks like they put the wrong microwave in, I am told it is an accidental upgrade, but the controls are really strange, not sure if I will keep it or not. Finally some pictures:

February 22, 2002

The bathroom sinks, shower, kitchen sink and all hardware were installed. Also, talked with the guy installing the carpet to make it easier to rip out and install tile floors.




March 5, 2002

The front yard landscaping was done and the rear yard was grated probably on the 4th. Looks like all the interior paint touch-ups are complete. The washing machine has also arrived. Met with the pool guys early in the morning and signed off on the plan to allow them to start digging.




March 6, 2002

The front yard landscaping is really messed up, but the pool is completely dug. Also, looks like they messed up some of the driveway and sidewalk--going to have to talk to them about that. Also noticed that one of the exterior electrical outlets was removed and stucco was put over it, going to find out why.

March 7, 2002

I got a call about the electrical outlet from the supervisor who said that it was not supposed to be there and that none of the electricians say they put it in. Said that the wiring was done wrong and that the box was not even the kind that the electricians use--basically I think that they believe that I put the thing in since nobody there will fess up to it. Anyway, it was removed, would have been nice to have though. Also talked to the pool sales guy and was reassured that all the mess in the front yard and driveway will be taken care of at their expense due to their screw-up--good enough answer for me.


March 15, 2002

I was told that all the pool plumbing, electrical and steel work will be done by Monday for its first inspection. Then the gunite (concrete) will be done next week and all work will then be haulted until after I close on April 3rd. The pool should be done within about 2 weeks of me closing.

March 22, 2002

On the 19th they were putting up my front wall which the pool guys had used as access. They got the gunite in only about a day behind. I don't think anything else will be happening until after I close. Everything with the house seems like it is ready for the final walk through next Wednesday.

March 27, 2002

Well, had the walk through and everything looked really good. Just a few minor paint touch-ups required, a couple cabinet doors that were a bit warped, and part of the front wall that is not very well done. These will all be taken care of in the next day or so. The superintendent said that he could probably release the keys today and that there eally was no reason to have to wait to next week to close.




March 28, 2002

After MANY phone calls yesterday and a few corrections made to some of the numbers in the paper work--I signed all the papers at about 2:00PM today and will have my keys by about 4:00 tomorrow!!! I am now happily in debt!!! I will get some "before" pictures of the inside before we rip it apart and start putting new tile on the floors and painting the walls.
