My Future House Pictures Page 2

August 2001

View to rear

This is the first picture of my lot that I have. Pusch Ridge and Mt. Lemmon can be seen in the rear.

Lot with wall

The rear wall of my lot was finished.

View to front

Here is a view out the front of my lot. Those are the Tucson Mountain foothills in the background.

No new pictures to add today. Just got word that my permit has come in and they can start building at any time.

Week of October 8, 2001

They finally started painting the house on the lot on Monday, but stopped half way through. They then did nothing the rest of the week. I started to question whether the house actually fit since the painting was well outside the county set-back lines.

October 14, 2001

We just happened onto a meeting with a higher-up in the D.R. Horton ladder who informed us that the house did not fit on the lot. I am pissed! I have been telling them I was concerned with the house fitting since June 26th and have repeatedly been guaranteed that the house would fit. Apparently no one a D.R. Horton has the intelligence to actaully checked the scales of their drawings after I repeatedly told them that they were wrong. This wasted the entire day as they tried to talk me into different lots (which have sewers running under them--very appealing) and we looked a different builders in the neighborhood. Nothing was in my price range and desirable. I may have to flip the house and fit it a different way.

October 15, 2001

Well, I just got a call from D.R. Horton saying that not all the information was available yesterday. Apparently, they are having to apply for a variance which will allow them to build over the county set-back lines. So, assuming that it is approved, the house will go up as I had wanted. Looks like at least another couple weeks delay.

Week of November 5, 2001

All right, after almost 3 weeks of waiting for a variance which was again guaranteed to be approved as soon as all the paperwork was in line, the county decided to deny the request. It took about 3 days to get an explaination that over 50% of the houses in the development are not occupied therefore it is county policy not to grant variances. Obviously the people at DR Horton did there homework when they guaranteed it would be approved. They then just tried to get rid of me by offering me a smaller house or a crappy lot. Well, I knew the Rincon fit a different way, so we had to flip the house as shown in the picture on the previous page and start the permit process again.

November 13, 2001

I got word that a request for the adjustment of the current permit was submitted. I am told that this should not take as long as requesting a new permit--well, we have seen how accurate DR Horton has been thus far. We shall see.

November 30, 2001

So, finally after months of delays, the final permit came in today and the building will begin. I was told that the foundation should be poured on December 22nd or 23rd, too bad I won't be in town to see it.
