
Since she was a child, in the city of Bucaramanga, the observation of her surroundings led her to discover with fascination, all the transformations of daily reality generated by the always changing interplay of light and shadows.
Later on, this sharpness of gaze, together with her love of travel and her work with social issues, awakened a passion for Photography, leading her to scrutinize daily life in urban and rural landscapes.
She studied Psychology at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, is an Educator from Universidad Pedagógica and has a post-graduate degree in Welfare Policies from Universidad Javeriana. She has worked with public and non-government institutions on education, health and social development projects.
Esperanza took private lessons with local artists Ernesto Amaya and Yolanda Contreras. She started working professionally in 1991 and has specialized in black & white photography. In june of 2.000 she participated in a worskhop on Infrarred & Oil-Photography with Marcia Reifman at the Santa Fe Workshops , in New Mexico.
Her photographic work has concentrated on social issues, using her long working experience with communities and children as a tool.
