The Jazz Band at West Catholic High School is anextra-curricular activity. The Jazz Band rehearses Monday and Tuesday after school for one hour. In addition to studying and playing various forms of jazz music, students also learn about the history of jazz and music theory of jazz.
The Jazz Band performs at numerous events throughout the year, including: Open House, Eighth Grade Visitation Day, grade school concerts, school pep rallies, and the Christmas and Spring Concerts.
Instrumentation
The following instruments are part of a jazz band.
• Alto Saxophone
• Tenor Saxophone
• Trumpet
• Trombone
• Piano
• Bass
• Drum Set
While students interested in the West Catholic Jazz Band are not expected to be proficient on these instruments, they are expected to have some playing experiences on the instrument.
