Game Recaps
Final Week
Centerfielders Triple win Total in 1 Game
The Centerfielders got hammered but walked away with 2 victories finishing the season with a total of 3 wins. The Jayz were forced to forfeit the 9 inning game with only 1 girl in their lineup. However that did not stop them from embarrassing the Centerfielders. Leanne carried a perfect game into the 5th inning and was later pulled from the game after her shutout came to an end in the 6th.
Although it was a meaningless game the Jayz lit up the pitching with a 22-1 final. Chris led the way going 6 for 6 with 3 doubles, 3 triples, 5 runs scored and 2 RBI's.
Wait and hope for 2nd
The Jayz came back just as strong after their forfeit and continued to walk all over the competition. Leanne just missed out on 2 more shutouts with 17-1 and 18-1 wins over the Rascals. The bats can't get much better when you have 5 of your 12 players batting a 1.000 in the 2 games.
The Jayz end the day 2 and 2 but outscore their opponents 57-3. Now they wait to see if they hold on to 2nd place for the season.
Game Highlights
-Tasha went 4-4 with a walk, 4 runs scored and 4 RBI's becoming the first female in Jayz history to bat a 1.000 in a doubleheader
-Matt went 6-6, 5 runs, 4 RBI's
-Ben went 6-6, 4 runs, 4 RBI's
-Tony went 4-4, 3 runs, 2 RBI's
-Steve went 5-5, 2 runs, 2 RBI's
Week Not Really Sure
Jayz take over 2nd place
The Jayz are on a 4 game win streak and take back sole possession of 2nd place with huge wins over the ALCC. Looks like the team has accomplished their goal of finishing 2nd this year as they will face the 2 worst teams in the league to finish the season off. The centerfielders are up next and the Jayz have outscored them 38-0 this year. BATTING PRACTICE!!
Matt led the way for a 2nd straight week and is now 15 for 15 in the last 2 weeks. He is leading the team in most stat categories as he looks to win MVP honours for the season. Lets hope he can carry this streak into the playoffs.
Tony adds to his team leading singles with 4 more and boosts his average up to .718 on the year as he looks to compete for this years batting title.
Things were looking up for the Jayz going into the playoffs until word spread of starting pitcher Leanne skipping playoffs to drink in Cape Breton. This will leave the team scrambling and will cause many defensive issues for the team. The last time Leanne missed a game the team went on to make 21 errors and lose 2 games to the Beavers, which many still blame Leanne for. This record breaking season by the Jayz may come crashing down in the playoffs.
Game Highlights:
-Matt went 8 for 8, 3 runs and 6 RBI
-Roger did not injure anyone
-Snide finds HR swing
-New young talent Lisa goes 3 for 5, 3 runs, 2 RBI and may need to be called upon to replace Leanne in the playoffs
Week 8
The Jayz made 21 errors leading to 42 unearned runs losing 15-11 and 28-23.
Game Highlights:
-Tony went 7 for 7 with 2 HR's and hit for the cycle in game 2
Week 7
Matt Leads The Way With New Bat And Old Glove
The Jayz with their 3 top hitters sitting out had no problem adding another 2 easy wins to the standings. Many credit Matt's new bat for the win. Matt receives MVP this week going 6 for 7 with 3 triples and a HR. He also led the team with 5 runs and 6 RBI's and turned 2 double plays.
(Matt) Its tough having to listen to "Chris would have had that" for the last month....well I would like to see Chris turn 2 double plays in 1 game.
The Jayz maintain their strong hold on 2nd place in the standings but as Ricky Bobby says, "If you ain't first, you're last".
The Jayz still have a couple more weeks to prepare for their rematch against the Twins.
Game Highlights:
-Matt, Melissa and Joe turned 3 double plays
-Tony hits first HR of the year and continues to lead the team in singles
Week 6
Jayz Leave the Employment Centerfielders Searching For New Jobs
It was a day of batting practice for the Jayz as they scored 5 runs in each inning of the first game while only recording 2 offensive outs for the entire game. The team ended game 1 going 29-31 with a .936 batting average (higher than the team leader). Amazing as the bats were Leanne pitched the first ever Jayz complete game shutout by pitching a 3 hitter leading them to a 25-0 win.
The stories of Bens autographed balls from his 2 shutouts in a different league began spreading in the dugout before game 2 started. Not to be out done, Leanne went back on the mound with only 10 mins rest and pitched yet another complete game shutout getting her way out of back to back bases loaded innings. She pitched 10 straight shutout innings of ball and the team pulled out a 13-0 win with a walk off HR from Snide, his 2nd of the day.
Tough call on MVP with oustanding play all around. Tasha went 5 for 5 with 3 doubles and led the team with 5 runs scored, Tony continued his team lead in singles going 5 for 5 with 4 singles and Roger went 4 for 4 and led the team with 6 RBI's. But MVP will have to go to Snide who had 2 HR's and was the only one to hit them over the fence. He ended the day going 5 for 5 and leading the team with 5 runs scored and 6 RBI's. Leanne will become the first person in baseball history to pitch 2 complete game shutouts in the same day and not get player of the game.
Game Highlights:
-Leanne pitches the Jayz first ever complete game shutout and follows it up with a 2nd one
-Jayz finish the day with 10 HR's in 10 innings
-The team combined to go 29-31 with a .936 batting average in game 1
-Tasha, Tony, Snide & Roger all had perfect days at the plate
-Chris follows up his broken rib HR last year with a broken finger HR
Week 5
It rained and no one wanted to get wet
Week 4
Birthday Celebrations Turn Into Wins
It might have been her birthday but Melissa came to play ball making several catches in the outfield and throwing a runner out. But it was her 2 RBI double to tie the game in the 7th that had the dugout buzzing.
The Jayz were down 13-6 after 3 innings but pulled out a 7th inning win with a 14-13 victory. The Jayz defense shut the door giving up 0 runs in the final 4 innings to steal one from the 2nd place Sluggers.
The Jayz turned on the bats in game 2 maxing out on HR's for the 3rd time this season after just 4 innings. The Jayz simply out slugged the Sluggers for the easy 18-13 win.
In other news, C-Mac's contract violation will have him out for 4-6 weeks with a broken finger. MacKinnon violated section 4B of his contract that stipulates him from participating in any other sports during baseball season. Coach Bishop is still undecided if MacKinnon will be benched after his DL stint.
Game Highlights:
-Team is on pace to hit 67 HR's (Had 48 in 2008, 13 in 2007)
-Ben takes over team lead in HR's, Runs & RBI's
Week 3
Coachless Jayz Stumble
Anthony did not come and we lost both games.
Game Highlights:
-Leanne finished with 4 RBI's becoming the first female to lead the Team in RBI's for the week
-Leanne leads the team in hits and singles
Week 2
Another one bites the dust as the Jayz take another 2 wins in week 2. This week saw the debut of 2 new Jayz, Scott and Tash, and they both showed theyre not afraid to get down and dirty to come up ball in hand. With Leanne on the mound there was a void on the 2bag, but Tash has proved the L-Mac combo will be nicely followed up this year .
With MacKinnon and Kean off gallivanting on PEI, Bish was left to fill the spot in short , and Joe had to step up as lead off. Even with two big hitters MIA, the bats were hot as the Jayz increased their batting average from .676 to .685 for the season.
Stuck in a 4-way tie for first place in the league, who will be the Jayz next victim?
Game Highlights:
- Tash and Leanne both hit a triple
- Leanned ended the day 8 for 8, 4 runs scored and 5 RBI's
- Matt turned the season's first double play
Week 1
The Jayz home opener is in the books and they continued where they left off last year with a quick 2 wins to start the season. Things looked dismal with the new Jayz talent Snide being place on the 15 day DL before the game, however, the team picked up the slack showing all kinds of power.
The Jayz finished the day with 8 HR's, maxing out on the 4 HR rule in each game. No telling how many they would have hit without a HR rule. After a quick check of the stats archive this would be the most HR's in Jays team history for a single day surpassing the 6 HR's hit last year in week 2 just before Leanne broke the juiced bat.
The Jayz top of the lineup (Chris, Ben and Leanne) combined to go 21 for 23 with 19 runs scored, 15 RBI's and 5 HR's. Ben also won game 2 with a walk off single to move the Jayz to 1st place in the league and earning him MVP honors for week 1.

-Ben went 9-9 with 3 HR
-Chris went 8-8 with 2 HR and hit for the cycle in game 2
-8 HR's total (most in team history)
-First time Jayz start the season with a win
-Jayz 1st place in the league
-Snide tracked a perfect game as the official score keeper
