So the warranty has already paid for itself, and if the transmission goes (as they often do in these cars), the warranty will save me about $1,750 in parts and labor.  I am glad I got the policy, even though it's not the best idea for everyone.  The key is to figure how much you're likely to spend on repairs - my case, a whole bunch - and determine if it justifies the expense.
This is a list so far of the projects I've done to the car:

Replaced fabric seats with full leather

Installed custom carbon fiber hood with racing stripes

The famous battery wiring upgrade (very recommended for the SVX owner)

Yokohama AVS dB tires all around (also recommended)

Replaced rear center tailight panel with new one

Installed new MP3 stereo system and subwoofer/amp from my previous car

Installed cryo-treated slotted brake rotors for the front brakes

Here's my wish list of future projects for the car:

Re-cover interior vinyl trim with suede

Status:  Have material, need to find an auto upholstery shop to install

Remove dark tint on windows and replace with light metallic tint

Install transmission cooler positioned underneath hood scoop

Replace stock black dash trim with wood grain or custom finished pieces

When I purchased this car used last year, I opted for the 2 year warranty, knowing the history of the SVX's most common problems.  Being an accountant, I have kept a running total of the cost of repairs performed so far under warranty and the comparison to the cost of the policy itself.

Cost of policy, Oct 2000:             $1,000
Date & Type of                  Regular          Cost Under            Amount

Rebuild Alternator              $220.49              $50.00              $170.49
