Signs:  Great Movie!  A scary movie without the gore or satanism that ruins so many other thrillers!  See Hollywood, it can be done!  One of the things that I had missed for a very long time was a good thriller without all of the junk that Hollywood seems to idiotically believe must be in it. This movie, like "The Others" was refreshing in this regard.  M. Night Shyamalan has given us his third great one, after Sixth Sense and Unbreakable (which doesn't fit the scary genre).  Yes, he also wrote Stuart Little, but I haven't seen that one yet.  The Movie Signs? A great new twist on an old theme.  The Acting?  Mel Gibson.....enough said!  Special Effects?  May not be Attack of the Clones, but they were good and certainly were more believable than what passed for special effects in Spiderman!  Cinematography?  Outdoor scenes were great!  The indoor scenes, at times, looked like some older film was used (looked grainy to me).  Soundtrack?  Contributes very well to the mood.  Cleanliness?  Some mild swearing, the Lord's name was never taken in vain that I recall (another refreshing aspect of this movie), and one alien looses a couple of fingers via a huge knife.  Suitability for children?  Too intense for real small children.  The PG-13 rating is appropriate, though most children 10 and up could probably handle it.  The only real negative for this movie was that I thought there was something of a flaw with the Alien's weakness.  I don't want to spoil it, but I'll give you one hint about why I had a slight problem with it:  Near 100% humidity in some locations...  That's a very small flaw in my book, though, so I give this movie an exceptionally enthusiastic thumbs up.  See it!  And, see it in the theatre!
