Contributions to the wider communities of New Zealand
- Meng Ly is a founding member of the Ethnic Voice of New Zealand. He is on the Board which discusses problems faced by migrants to New Zealand.
- He has worked with many different communities, including Chinese, Taiwanese, Lao, Thai, Burmese, Sri Lankan, Iraqi, Samoan and Tongan. He has been invited to many ethnic community functions. He works towards a better understanding of peoples' cultures.
- Meng Ly has frequently been consulted by Auckland City, Manakau City, and Waitakere City in relation to migrant settlement strategies, Asian networks, New Settlers, etc.
- Meng Ly has been the guest of the Governor General and of the Prime Minister at the Chinese New Year functions in Wellington. He has frequently been a guest at diplomatic functions

- Meng Ly has been a supporter of the Cambodia Trust in raising funds for prosthetics in Cambodia, and for relief in times of floods and earthquakes in Cambodia, China and Taiwan. |
