Contributions to the wider communities of New Zealand

- Meng Ly is a founding member of the Ethnic Voice of New Zealand. He is on the Board which discusses problems faced by migrants to New Zealand.

- He has worked with many different communities, including Chinese, Taiwanese, Lao, Thai, Burmese, Sri Lankan, Iraqi, Samoan and Tongan. He has been invited to many ethnic community functions. He works towards a better understanding of peoples' cultures.

- Meng Ly has frequently been consulted by Auckland City, Manakau City, and Waitakere City in relation to migrant settlement strategies, Asian networks, New Settlers, etc.

- Meng Ly has been the guest of the Governor General and of the Prime Minister at the Chinese New Year functions in Wellington. He has frequently been a guest at diplomatic functions

- He has been a part of several consultation processes in government agencies including:-
       New Zealand Immigration Service
       Ministry of Social Development
       Ministry of Labour
       New Zealand Police
       Mnistry of Justice

- Meng Ly has been a supporter of the Cambodia Trust in raising funds for prosthetics in Cambodia, and for relief in times of floods and earthquakes in Cambodia, China and Taiwan.

I was invited by Taiwanese friends to have lunch at the head of office of Kuomingtang party in Taipei, Taiwan.
Mr. Ian Kidman, Executive of Cambodia Trust of N.Z and Mr, Meng Ly. Ian is known to every Cambodian in New zealand as their good friend. Ian contributed a lot to Cambodia through Cambodia trust.
