My Personal Belief: I have always believed in social justice; universal free education; full employment; universal free healthcare; protection of strategic assets; conservation of our environment; a strong educational campaign against drug and alcohol abuse as necessary for economic growth and a crime-free society. I am firmly opposed to all forms of dishonesty in both the public and the private sectors, and in recent times was active in exposing a level of corruption within an office of the New Zealand Immigration Service. My message to all New Zealanders: - New Zealand has a growing economy, excellent employment levels, and a healthy surplus of revenue. Clearly Labour will be the leading party in Government after the 2005 election. - The Progressive Party has been a valuable coalition partner for Labour and has been responsible for many of the real advances made by the present government - Progressive led by Jim Anderton as Minister of Economic and Regional Development, has taken a strong lead in building economic success in many parts of New Zealand, The unemployment rate has come down from 12% to 3.5%, one of the lowest in the world. A strong economy provides security and prosperity for all New Zealanders - Progressive cares about young people. That's why we advocate free education. Education benefits our country. It helps the knowledge economy grow. It helps young people gain well-paid jobs and contribute to the common good, including the support of our elderly - Progressive cares about health. Good health is an economic asset as well as a personal one. That's why Progressive fought for 4 weeks holiday for all workers - and why we want a thorough study of the balance between work and leisure. And we want to build strong, healthy family life. These are health issues - They are also family issues. And Progressive cares about families. Good housing is the first need for families, and we propose a scheme that will enable young people on limited incomes to buy their own homes - Progressive wants to retain national strategic assets. That's why we fought for Kiwibank, and why we supported the buy-back of Air New Zealand. We want to protect their assets, like roads, water, coal and schools. - Progressive cares are business. That's why we propose cutting company tax from 33% to 30%. It makes good sense. It will help businesses grow, and encourage more employment. Progressive wants to make our community safe. Good economic and social policies can help reduce crime. At the same time we need to have a vigorous campaign to educate young people about the realities of alcohol and drug abuse. The Progressive Party is the only party that can be relied on to press for a growing economy that will help all New Zealanders to a properous future. The best way to ensure that the Progressive Party is part of the next government is for many people to VOTE PROGRESSIVE with their party vote next election. Every vote for PROGRESSIVE will be a vote for a strong economy, fair allocation of resources and people-centred policies at all levels. To read our full policies go to www.progressive.org.nz Hon. Jim Anderton has said: Under Progressive no one in New Zealand will be left behind. Please give your party vote to Progressive party !!!!!!!! |
