What is Jayeechi?

Jayeechi is a Wayúu word that translates "songs", songs which have served to transmit the history of a people since time immemorial.

As a cultural organization, the Jayeechi Cultural Corporation has adopted this name with the purpose of recreating the experiences, both fantastic and day-to-day, that allow it to showcase and promote the Wayúu and Guajiro identity through the art of theatre.

Who are the Members?

An interdisciplinary group of Wayúu and Guajiro youth who are engaged in studies at the high school and university level at the same time as developing a theatre project consisting of staging plays with hopeful messages, as well as giving training workshops  aimed at the children and youth of the region.

From the force of  being alive spring the fruit of the cactus feeding the peace of the doves, my eyes falling upon Iiwa and Juyou, the dreams consoling us with our  dead, while the women continue the weaving life.
