Kumari
Jayanti Mukherjee,
Prabhakar (Bharat Natyam) and Sudhakar (Kathak) emerged in the world of
kathak dance in the year 1972. She had her training under the well known
meastros of KathakPandit
Birju Maharaj,
Pandit
Krishna Maharaj and
Om
Prakash Maharaj and in the BharatnatyamNrityacharya
Mani Sankar. She is accustomed with the Lucknow
Gharanas of Kathak dancing. She has particularly
acquired the art of presenting the traditional disciplines with blending
of rhythms. Her ease of expression and the dramatics of the mood is very
entertaining.
Jayantihad
her privilege of performing in various functions in Mumbai, Delhi, Patna
and Kolkata. In Kolkata she has taken part in Allauddin
Sangeet Samaj, Tansen Music Conference, Dover Lane Music Conference and
Ruepsody
School of Music Conference. She was invited
by the cultural team of Goverment of West Bengal, which visited Tripura
and Bhutan. At present she is associated with the famous
Calcutta
Youth Choir and also took part in 'Shankarscope'
of Udaysankar. Miss Mukherjee had the privilege
of performing in Bhaskar Rao Music Conference
at Chandigarh in August '89,
Kottyam Festival
in June '90 and
Pondicherry Festival
in August '90.
She also got the opportunity to participate in famous Ghungroo
Festival at Bhopal in
1989, in Classical
Music Conference at Patna in
1989, in National
Performing Art Centre at Mumbai in
March '91 and in Bharat
Utsav at Allippy in Kerala in
August '91. She participated in Bhagyachandra
Festival
of Imphal in March
'93. She also performed in different parts
of Thailand.
She made a successful debut in Europe
in October '91, which were widely acclaimed.
She also visited Canada
with her performance in 1994
and in New York Banga Sammelon '95.
Miss
Mukherjee has
achieved the awards, Art Forum in 1988 and Dishari in 1989. She is also
dignified by the title Singer Moni from Kal-Ka-Kalakar at Mumbai in 1989.
She has been selected as a trainer of Kathak Dance at Burdwan workshop,
organised by West Bengal Government.
