Pumpkins I Carved

Click on the ones with borders to enlarge.

I've been cavring pumpkins since I was a little kid. Sometimes Mom would salt and roast the seeds for my brother and me to eat, but I really got into it when I found a "Pumpkin Masters pumpkin carving kit" at Wal-Mart. So, I've been having a lot of fun with the books since around 1999. I would buy 1 or 2 books a year, and pick the best one that I wanted to carve. I've always gotten lots of compliments from the trick-o-treaters' parents. One year I even heard a little girl say, "Mom! This is the house with the cool pumpkins." I knew then that I couldn't stop carving...

2000 This is my second year to carve pumpkins like this. I can't find the pictures for the first year... :-/

2001 This year, I tried what they call shadow images. There are designs carved into the back of the pumpkin to make pictures on the wall behind it. The haunted house took me 4 hours to carve. Both of them have images that glow on the wall behind the pumpkin, but it's hard to see. I still need to experiment with taking the picture so you can see the image.
See the ghosts on the wall?

2002 The year of the fog....and more pumpkins.

2004 Finally got some new pumpkins. Lost my carving kit last year, so I had to wait until they came out again to finish last year's pumpkin and do this year's.

2006 I don't know what happened to '05. I need to update the site with those pictures.
