Ithaca Wonderland
Welcome to Ithaca, New York upperstate living, beautiful countryside, site of an Ivy League university, Cornell University ....
Ithaca is GORGES..., Cascadilla Creek
The Collegetown, as the name implies, is just located at the entrance of Cornell University. Most students get their necessities here, including everyday meal. Cool thing about food is the large array of food choices from Asian, Middle East to European.
A closer look of Collegetown reveals it as rows of shophouses, banks and office buildings. First in the row is the well-known Collegetown Bagels, and adjacent not in order are Tops grocery store, Peace Chinese Food restaurant, banks and a few other shops providing student needs. For anyone lusting for shopping complexes, Ithaca town is only 20 minutes away by bus.

Ithaca is a town in the Tompkins County. Apart of its well-known gorges, Ithaca has more than 9 lakes (major ones being Canandaigua, Keuka, Seneca, Cayuga, Qwasco, Skaneateles) of which several forms the Fingerlakes because of their long and finger-like geographies. The biggest and longest of these lakes is the Cayuga Lake as seen in the aerial picture. Along the Cayuga are dozens of wineries. At the southern tip of Cayuga is the Ithaca town. Ithaca encompasses the Cornell University, Collegetown, Ithaca High School, the Commons, Trumansberg, Groton, Enfield, Newfield and Dryden.
Ithaca is serviced by shuttle bus T-Cat such as the one above. The bus can "kneel" to allow passengers easy mounting onto the bus. What attracts me here is the handicapped-friendly feature of the bus. Besides allocating a priority space for the handicapped, the bus had a hydraulic tray that assists wheel-chair bounded passengers to mount the bus. This photo was taken at the bus stop in front of the public library at the Commons.
Buttermilk Fall, Ithaca during the Spring of 2005. It is a series of uphill falls such as the ones in the background. The water flows down from Treman Lake about 5 miles away.
Baseball game at Ithaca High, between Ithaca College (blue) and a Syracuse team (red).
Community fireworks display on July 1st, Ithaca to celebrate the American's Independence Day on the 4th of July.
Ithaca High School water fountain.
Stewart Park, Ithaca - at the edge of Cayuga Lake on one fine afternoon in the summer.
