| John imigrated to the US with his family (4 children) in 1889 from the German region of Poland. I don't think they spoke English before this time, and if they did it was very little. They list their native language as German but the original last name as I found it on John and Tessa's mairage license was clearly Polish. The marriage license itself is printed in German but there are many Polish words written on it |
