Halloween Crafts

Smoke or Fog

Dry Ice (Check under "ice" in the yellow pages to find a dealer near you.)
Water
Large Bucket or Container
DO NOT HANDLE DRY ICE WITHOUT GLOVES!!
Place Dry Ice in the container, pour water over dry ice, use 2 to 3 times as much water as there is ice. There needs to be enough water to cover the dry ice.

Skull

Paper Plates
Crayons or Markers
Scissors
Cut half circles (about 3-4 inches long and about one and a half inches deep) on opposite sides of a paper plate. Draw a skull face.

Witches Hat

Poster Board
Paper Plate
Crayons or Paint
Scissors
Green Yarn or Crepe Paper
Stapler or Tape
Cut the poster board into a large triangle shape with the botton edge being curved. You want this large enough to make into a cone to fit on top of the paper plate leaving about 1 - 2 inches of the outside edge of the paper plate showing. Paint one side of the posterboard and the backside of the paper plate black and let it dry.
Once the paint is dry, cut a large circle in the middle of the paper plate, leave a 1 - 2 inch ridge on the outside. Bend the posterboard, black side out, into a cone shape so the bottom edge fits snuggly into the hole in the paper plate. Make sure the painted side of the paper plate is facing up! Make sure 1/2 - 1 inch of the botom edge of the cone shape is sticking out through the bottom of the hole in the paper plate. Cut small slits every few inches, fold down, and tape them to the underside of the paper plate. You should now have the hat shape.
Now for the finishing touch - add green hair (or use whatever color you want)! Decide what length you want your witch's hair to be... Twelve inches is a nice length to try. Cut several pieces of yarn or crepe paper all the same length. If you are using yarn, you will want 30 at the very least. Tape the end of each "hair" in the inside edge of the cone where it is taped onto the paper plate as shown in the picture below. Tape the yarn side by side cover about 2/3rds of the inside of the hat rim.

Nylon Witch Doll

Old Nylon Stocking
Batting
Embroidery Thread
Black Bristle Board (Posterboard)
Construction Paper
Black Wool (or yarn)
Star Stickers (optional)
Twigs
Twine
Glue
Stuffed a piece of nylon with batting and gather it around the base to make the witch's head. To make the face, just use embroidery thread to sew the eyes, nose and mouth.
Once you have sewn the face, you just pull the extra nylon down into the hole of the cone and glue the head onto the cone shape made from black bristle board. We added a black construction paper cape to the cone. Glue a bunch of black wool to the top of the head and add a construction paper hat made into a cone shape and decorat with sticker stars.
The broom is simply made out of a larger twig with smaller twigs tied onto it with twine and a dab of glue to ensure that it stays together.

Plastic Bag Ghosts

Balloons
White plastic garbage bags
Black marker
String
Scissors
Masking tape
Cover inflated balloons with the white plastic garbage bags. Gather the bags under each balloon and tie off to form a head with the a piece of string. Draw a face on the bag with markers. Tape another piece of string to the top of the head to hang. Great for outside since they are waterproof!!
