Roger Waters (1966-84) Bassist, Lead Songwriter
Roger Waters was the bassist and basically the lead songwritter after Syd Barrett left. His songwritting inspirations came from many places, such as watching his childhood friend Syd Barrett go crazy from mental illness coupled with his drug habit. Another of Rogers inspirations was his fathers death fighting in WWII. He left the band in 1984 assuming the band would completely fall apart when he left (hes got a pretty huge ego), but they didnt. Then he sued the remaining members in 1987 because they went back out on tour using the Pink Floyd name. He wanted them to drop the Floyd name and use a different one. He lost. Chances are pretty slim that he will ever rejoin the band, even just to go on a final tour with them or something because he has completely cut off contact from all of the remaining members (so I hear, who knows if its true or not).
