| PRE-NATAL UPDATES | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| November 20: We had an ultrasound this afternoon to check on Lauren's growth. I had been measuring 1 1/2 to 2 weeks ahead via fundal height. It turns out that she's right on schedule. She's weighing in at 5 lbs 8 oz. We had an ultrasound tech who was filling in for the day and she said she had been doing 3D ultrasounds all day so that the parents can take home good pictures of the baby's face. Below is a 3D view of Lauren. Imagine her doing a "woe is me" pose. The nose and lips look big because she's getting a bit smooshed in there. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| October 6: Time is really flying by! Two days ago I had my gestational diabetes test and passed. This coming Sunday I will be 27 week along and offically in the 3rd trimester (depending on which book you go by). Beginning with my next midwife appointment, October 25th, I will start having my appointments every other week. That should really make these last 3 months go by quickly. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| September 8: This morning we had a 23 week Echocardiogram - an ultrasound to look closely at the baby's heart. It's a standard because of family history. Everything looks great and we were able to confirm that we are having a girl. She's measuring in at 1 lb 5 oz. She's growing ahead of schedule, but then so did Rachel. The doctors want to move up my due date but I'll keep it at January 7th. I learned from last time that the original due date tends to be more accurate. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| August 28: We had our 21 week ultrasound this morning and learned that Rachel will be having a little sister! Lauren Emily seems to be our #1 name choice right now, but there's a chance that could change. She's measuring right on target at just 14 oz. She's doing lots of stretching and taking up as much space as she can. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| August 7: I had my 18 week midwife's appointment today. This time we were able to hear the heartbeat right away with the dopplar. 150 bpm. My midwife is guessing it's another girl. But, we have an ultrasound set up for August 28th that should tell us for sure if we have a little girl or little boy on the way. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| July 10: Today I had my 14 week midwife's appointment. My midwife couldn't find the heartbeat with the doppler (like my last appointment) so I had another ultrasound. Everything's fine. The baby is hiding back and low, so that makes finding the heartbeat difficult. With the ultrasound we could see that the baby is measuring 14 weeks and 4 days, which is only slightly ahead of schedule and the heartbeat is 151 bpm. Perfectly normal. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
