Ultrasound #1: January 28th How far along: 7 weeks 2 days Heartbeat: 158 bpm Length: 11 mm What you're seeing: The tip of the white arrow is pointed at the yoke sack, not part of the baby. The first "blob" on the left is the head and the thing coming up from the center is an arm. The legs are to the right and the thing coming up to the right of the arm is a leg. We've been told the baby looks sort of like a teddy bear.
Ultrasound #2 & Prenatal Appointment #4: April 23rd How far along: 19 weeks 4 days Heartbeat: 150 bpm Weight: 13 oz What you're seeing: This is a shot of her laying on her back. The arrow is pointed at her head, toward her forehead. You can see her right eye, a profile of her nose, lips, and chin. You can't really see her neck but her big belly is to the left and her legs are curled up. We found it easier to sit away from the photo to get a better over-all idea of what you're seeing. She's come a long way since the first ultrasound.

Ultrasound #3: May 12th How far along: 22 weeks 2 days Heartbeat: 150s - 177 bpm (depending on how active she was) Weight: 1 lb. 2 oz. Great news...she's perfect, chubby cheeks and all. And she's still a she. Heart is great, placenta moved up, and she is very active. She did two full feet-over-head summersaults which took her from a breech to head-down position. She also stuck her tongue out at us and waved her hand. Doctor measured her feet at 1 1/2 inches. Here is another profile shot of her face. You can also see a little hand.

Rachel is by far the tallest of the two year olds when we go to the playground or Time for 2 (storytime at the library). Other children and adults try to treat her like a 3 year old and expect her to be able to talk more like an older kid. Very funny to watch. I'm starting to look into Montessori preschools for her. I'm hoping to get her started next Fall, maybe a little sooner. She loves going to the toddler room at church on Sundays and I think she's ready for a 2 days a week program on top of that. She's steadily learning more phrases. "Bye, bye wat" (bye-bye water, when the bath drains), "I did it!", "let's go", and when she says her name it comes out as "Rach-o".
