| Our story starts when I moved to Griffin to serve
as youth pastor at an Assembly of God church. I moved here in July
of 1999. Jason and I didn't meet until January 2000. One day
(January 6) as I sat in my office, nothing to do, I went to Yahoo!
Personals and I typed in Griffin, GA and I think I also typed in "christian".
I was not interested in even chatting with anyone that wasn't a
Christian. ANYWAY, so Jason had just posted the ad a few days
before I checked out the personals. His ad said that he was a
musician (big plus) and that he was a Christian (even bigger
plus). I emailed him and told him that I thought that his ad was
interesting and that it would be cool if we could email each other
some. He emailed me back and we did that a few days before we even
talked on the phone. I remember giving him my pager number because
I didn't want him to have my home number, not this soon anyway. The
first night we talked on the phone, we talked for hours. It was
like we had known each other forever! We had so much in common. We
were both musicians and had both worked in ministry positions before. He
served as music and youth interns while he was in college at Georgia
Southwestern. We decided the next day to go out for lunch. I
had him meet me at the office and we went to Ruby Tuesday's. I
will never forget that lunch. I knew then and there that we would
be together forever (how sappy...). But, I just knew that Jason was the
man I would marry. Later that week, we went to a singles meeting
at the church I worked for. Everyone loved Jason. He is a
very likeable fellow. Later that month, Jason and I went to
LaGrange for my birthday dinner with my family. They fell in love with
Jason and I think they knew that he was the one too. I also met
Jason's mom and dad that week.
We were engaged on June 23, 2000 in Panama City. |
