| I get asked quite frequently what kind of equipment I use or shoot with, and what films I use. So I created this page to answer some of those questions. I currently shoot with a Nikon system. Which simply means my equipment is primarily Nikon. I shoot film only for all of my professional work. I started shooting with Nikon when I got into photography and haven't had any complaints so I stuck with it. My first real camera was a Nikon F70. I loved that camera and it's simplicity to use. I haven't shot much with other brands, but I'm extremely happy with my Nikon so that's what I'll stick with. My current camera is a Nikon F100. I really enjoy this camera and it's features. It handles most any shooting situation I put it through. I'll probably get another one soon for a back up and also to keep black and white film in. I use a Nikon SB-28 and a Nikon SB-23 flash. The SB-28 flash coupled with the Nikon system, simply put is the best you can get. The control it offers is second to none. The SB-23 is more of a compact flash and I use it primarily when I need some fill flash and weight is a concern. But I'm equally happy with the results. I only have three lenses at the moment, and I'm looking to get some more pro glass in the near future. The lens I use most is my Nikon 50mm F1.4. This is a great lens. It's really fast, so I can use it in almost any shooting situation. The focal length is perfect for just about anything except where you would need a strong telephoto. I use it for general photography, portraits, landscapes, you name it. The other lens I use a lot is a Nikon 105mm F2.8 Micro. This lens is great as a short telephoto lens. It helps me reach out and capture some of the things my 50mm won't let me. The other big feature to this lens is it's micro or 'macro' feature. This allows you to get right up on a subject and focus on it for an extreme close up. It's great for insects and anything that you need to get a lot of detail on. The other lens I just recently got is a Sigma 15mm F2.8 180 diagonal Fisheye. This is a really fun lens to shoot with. It really allows you to capture the entire scene. Being a fisheye it does do this with some distortion, but the effect is great. It allows you to get in close and tell the story on the subject, all while telling the rest of the story behind the main subject. I've got quite a bit of equipment so I'll just list the rest for now. -A set of Nikon close up rings -Nikon bellows and slide copy adapter -Bogen 3021 Pro Tripod -Bogen 3026 ball head -Nikon flash cords -Various filters and close up lenses I pack it all in a Lowepro Photo Trekker camerabag As for film, I shoot primarily slide film. The film I shoot with most is Fujichrome Provia 100F and Fujichrome Velvia. The Provia is a great film with really fine grain. It provides great color, and is great for enlarging. The Velvia really makes the colors pop and also has great grain. I'm currently experimenting with some new slide films and if I start to use them on a regular basis I'll list them here. Thanks for your interest. I hope this was helpful. As always if you have any questions please feel free to send them to me. |
