Jason is a photographer in the Tampa Bay area. Most of his work consists of Natural History and Scenics, but he also shoots a wide range of other projects. He enjoys being behind the camera in any situation, and can often be found on walk-abouts exploring his surroundings with his camera.What is shown in his galleries are only a small percentage of his works, and is meant to give you an idea of his style.
He grew up in the small town of Riverview, Florida just Southeast of Tampa. A little city that until recent years was not much more than woods and pasture land. He spent most of his childhood riding his bicycle from place to place and exploring the surrounding woods around his house. He always wanted to explore a little farther into the woods then he had previously. He would follow the creeks and streams that ran back into the woods all the way until they fed into the rivers. So it's no wonder that now he likes to spend as much time as possible exploring new places and seeing things not yet seen.
Along with his bicycle and a pair of hiking shoes he now carries a camera with him everywhere. His passion is finding places he's never been and photographing them. He tries to find beauty in all of his subjects, and has a desire to bring this out in all of his work. He wants to share his feelings, excitement, and spirit of the place, and have it come across when he opens the shutter and exposes the film.
As formal training goes Jason has had none to speak of. If you asked him which school he graduated from, he would simply tell you the school of hard knocks. His training has really came through his persistence. He's very critical of his own work and will drive himself until he gets that perfect shot he sees in his mind. By not training with others or having any former training in his background it has allowed him to develop a style that is truly his.
Jason is currently working on some different projects at the moment. He will be traveling some the middle of this year, and has some shows planned out for the near future. |
