| Below I have brainstormed a few solutions to global warming. I have developed these solutions from a proactive perspective - that every individual can make a positive contribution to the preservation of our environment. Every small thing counts, for when humanity works as a collective whole to preserve the environment, our goals for the stagnation and elminination of global warming will be met. 1. Reduce Waste. Every single day, we waste a lot of materials and resources. Reducing waste can be very simple, and can be a very healthy habit to pick up. For example, try to finish all the food that is on your plate. In the event that you can't, take the appropriate measures to preserve the food. If you have an entire serving of food that you haven't eaten, donate it to the local food bank. (There are a few grocery stores that have food bank bins for donation purposes). 2. Carpool If You Can, And Take Advantage Of Mass Transit. Driving an automobile releases precious fossil fuels into the atmosphere; if carpooling is an option, then do it. You should also strive to walk and bicycle anywhere you can. In the event that you can't, take advantage of mass transit (bus, train, ferry, subway) to arrive at your location. This will end up preventing a lot of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere. 3. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. This is a well known phrase that inspires me to reduce my waste, resuse materials as necessary, and to recycle appropriately. 4. Reduce Your Use Of Air Conditioning And Central Heating. This is definetely one habit that I must strive to work on. If you are wearing a t-shirt and you feel cold, don't turn on the central heating, which releases hazardous amounts of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Instead, utilize a sweatshirt. The use of air conditioning and central heating should be used at the minimum extent; be sure to turn down air conditioning and central heating when you go to sleep. 5. Use Electricity Only If Necessary. This is self-explanatory; be sure to turn off the lights when you leave a room, and only leave your computer on when you are working on it. (The same applies to television and radio). Saving electricity will reduce pollution that originates from power plants, save precious fossil fuels such as oil, cole, and natural gas, and reduce the cost of your electricity bills. 6. Get Involved. If you feel strongly enough about the environmentalist movement, get in touch with your local M.P. (Minister of Parliament) to offer suggestions to the preservation of our environment. Also get involved in environmental discussions and environmental groups to keep our environment healthy. (Refer to the links section). 7.. Be Mindful Of The Environment At All Times. Our quality of life depends on the quality of our environment. Our environment nurtures us and allows us to lead healthy lives. It is therefore important to be mindful of our environment at all times, and to preserve the environment to the maximum extent. Enjoy outdoor activities such as running and bicycling, and appreciate the greatness of our environment. |
