On this 6th day of June 1850 personally appeared before me the undersigned Justice of the Peace for the county and state aforesaid: Susannah Law who first being sworn according to law doth on her oath make the following statement to wit That she was present at the death of Polly Law who was the widow of Jesse Law decd a pensioner of the United Sates, that she died at Francis Barnes, in the state and county aforesaid on the 23rd day of April 1844 and at her death she believes she was between the age of eighty-four and ninety years. That Polly Law was never married after the death of her husband Jesse Law. She further states that she has heard Polly Law say that she was about 21 years of age when she was married to Jesse Law and from that time to the birth of the first son Joel Law was over one year.
She further states that Joel Law who was her husband is now dead, would had he lived been sixty-eight years of age at this time and that Jesse Law and Polly his wife lived together as man and wife as long as she was acquainted with them and anything to the contrary previous to that time she never heard. She also states that Francis Barnes is the son-law of Polly Law decd. and that he is not now at home on a visit to Iowa.
She also states that her husband Joel Law has been dead about 15 years. She also states that at the death of Polly Law she left five children whose names are, Elizabeth Lemaster, wife of Dick Lemaster, Sally Barnes wife of John Barnes, Avarillar Barnes wife of Francis Barnes, Daniel Law and Anderson Law. Those who are dead are Joel, Willis and John. Given under my hand and seal. This sixth day of June 1850
