| Summary of the Legion #2: Oversight Watch members, Repulse, Twine, Brainstorm and Abyss, arrive at the explosion site of the Legionnaires transport vehicle to inspect the destruction and ensure the Legionnaires have perished. They discover a powerful force-field strengthened by Quantum and Dark-Force energy, which opens to reveal some very upset Legionnaires. The two teams clash but the Legion- naires are shaken from the accident and choose to retreat and regroup. During the battle, Umbra loses her abilities to cast Dark- fields for unknown reasons. As the team continues their escape, they come upon a huge underground chamber called a Genome Vault and trip an alarm which summons the Science Police and the Oversight Watch led by Venge. Meanwhile, Triad enters the UP Science Police headquarters in disguise and liberates Shikari. As the Legion and Oversight Watch battle, Ultra Boy, Saturn Girl and Wildfire find that Venge is much more formidable than he would seem as he casually brushes off each of their attacks. Kid Quantum uses her powers to suspend him in time as the Legion once again retreats, this time into a drain tunnel. As Venge is released from his time-suspension he orders a reactor control site to release tons of toxic, irradiated water into the tunnel in which the team escaped. The Legionnaires realize that something is rushing towards them and search for an exit to the tunnel. At the end of the tunnel they discover a large number of skeletons, including that of Leland McCauley, leading them to wonder who is masquerading as the president of the UP. The team is confused as to how they should proceed, considering that the entire UP may be hunting them, but help arrives in the form of Shikari and the Bouncing Boy. Released: October 24, 2001 |
