THE YANKEES SIMPLY RULE!

I am a huge Yankee fan. My favorite current Yankee play is definitely Bernie Williams. But my favorite Yankee growing up as a kid was Don Mattingly. It's such a shame that he never got to win a title though. He basically got screwed, playing in the 80s and early 90s when the Yankees were a piss poor team. They didn't once make the playoffs in that time span till 1995. In 1994 before the strike the Yankees were number one in their division. And in 1995 the Yankees were only one game away from advancing to the 2nd round of the playoffs, in fact at one point they led that series against the Seattle Mariners. And sadly the year after Mattingly retired, the Yankees won the first of their 4 World Series Titles in 5 years. Bernie Williams on the other hand who has been a major factor in the Yankees recent success, endured the Yankee futilities of the early 90s to develop into one the Major League Baseball's premier players, both offensively and defensively, and being rewarded for his efforts with a few World Series Rings and All-Star births as well as Golden Gloves.

As far back as I can remember, I've been a big Yankee fan. I've also been privileged enough to have gone to three of their victory parades at the Canyon of Heroes near New York City's city hall. Unfortunately the famous Yankee Stadium is pretty far from my house, but I still manage to attend a few games every season. But whenever I can't attend the games live, I love to listen to them on the radio, watch them on television, or check the live web updates. Usually I can't see too many of the games on TV, because I don't have cable at home, yep I have basic NYC network television (only 8 Channels! can you believe it!).

I am such a Yankee fan even my Yahoo Fantasy Baseball team this year has or had a bunch of Yankees on it! Derek Jeter, Alfonso Soriano, Bernie Williams, Chuck Knoblauch, and El Duque! Yea sadly I had to get rid of some of these guys cause they were either slumping or injured. Also I have the 1998 through 2000 Yankees World Series banners on my dorm room wall. I would have the 1996 World Series banner but that was back in the day when I was a dirt poor high school freshman. You know these banners cost an astronomical $10 US! You know that's 80 kuai (Chinese dollar equivalent)!

Oh yea by the way I am not one of those kids from random states like Connecticut that don't have baseball teams and decide to root for the BEST TEAM in baseball because they are bandwagon jumpers. I am a native New Yorker, born and raised, so I have valid justification. And I do actually live IN New York City, yep in Manhattan. I am not one of those "Oh I live in New York kids, well not really, I live just outside, but I say I live in New York cause no one has ever heard of my town, which is a suburb of New York City." (no offense Luke) Does this sound familiar to anyone? I think those alleged Boston kids say that, oh wait they're really from '20 minutes outside of Boston' (Weinberg, Justin, Haas: I'll let you take offense to this...)
