Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind takes place sometime in the "near" future. The story is really similar to Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke), humans against the animals. Well...instead of having huge animal gods...u have huge bugs. Anyway, in this story...pollution and technology has virtually destroyed our Earth. Poisonous forests named Fukai (also known as poisonous seas) now cover most of the Earth, which spreads further and further each day.
Nausicaä is the Princess of Valley of the Wind. Valley of the Wind happens to be one of the few places where peace and nature still exist. Wind of the seas prevent poison from coming in, which shelters them from the wars and poison. Nausicaä dedicates her life to her people and strive to research a cure to help those who suffer from Fukai poison. However, one day, the lives of all those in the Valley are thrown into chaos. The people are in danger of losing all that they have cherished so dearly, and it is up to Nausicaä to save her people and the future of all mankind. Her people in Valley of the Wind, love her very much, because of her kindness and love for nature. She also has a fondness for the insects, that people always hates and thinks are dangerous.
To get from place to place, Nausicaä flies on this jet power'd wind glider. It's pretty cool the way, she flies through the air. She knows exactly how to use it, in which Yupa, an old friend of Nausicaä's father (King Jiro) taught her to fly it.
