On the outside, it looks like he has no emotions, or that he's cold and doesn't care what other people think of him. When he talks to others of certain things, he seems very intelligent and is aware of what's going around him. He lived a very bad home life, which caused him to be more of a bully in school, like throwing chalk filled balloons, shooting ink filled waterguns,and bribing the teachers. At home, his sister hates him and blames him for EVERYTHING and his father goes to work so he can get away from everything (work-aholic). All because his mother died at his childbirth, in which both his sister and (I think) his dad blame him for. He soon meets Sana, and everything changes. Sana makes him stop picking on all the girls and teachers in the class, and also changes his home life. Making his dad and sister watch a movie she was in, that was related to his life, they felt bad about how they treated Akito and changed their ways and are now like a regular family. But because Hayama is so used to his environment, his personality still stays stioc (Note: Not as much as before though), and can't express certain emotions that well. For example, when he wants to say he likes something or LOVES something, he would say 'I don't hate it'. Hayama Akito...is MY favorite character in Kodoma no Omocha (Child's Toy), he's soooooooooo cute and funny...especially when he turns into particular animals.
