Japan Project

This project was based on the Japanese American Friendship Doll Program. The students studied Japan for several months, and at the end of the school semester they demonstrated their projects and research to guests at the library.

The students read the children's book Sadako.   They made one hundred cranes, which were hung in the library after they were finished.

They demonstrated volcanic eruptions, which at times have caused serious damage in Japan.

The students studied Japanese history and geography.

At the end of the Japan project, the students performed a skit based on the Friendship Doll story.

The students made nice paper dolls for Hinamatsuri (Doll Festival).  They are very good at origami.
