Program: Respect for Law

We will be honoring the Little Tokyo Public Safety Association for our respect for Law program. The Little Tokyo Public Safety Association is the neighborhood watch group for Little Tokyo. As such, it is a volunteer organization that patrols the streets at night to help ensure the safety of visitors and residents alike. Come out and join Chairman Randal Kumagai and the Club in acknowledging their contributions to the safety of the Little Tokyo area.

Sheriffs Round-Up
It is really hard to believe my year is half over. But, as an Optimist, I have to say my year has half a year remaining. I want to thank all of you who have made this year so successful so far. We have accomplished so much for the youth of our community. I also want to remind all of you who said you would support me there are plenty of events you can come out to and support me and the Club this year. Let us all work toward a successful 2nd half of this year.

Jae
JAO President

Last Meeting...
Last meeting we heard from Bryan Takeda, President of the Nikkei Bridge Federation and Sarah Fukui and Curtis Takimoto, alumni of the Rising Stars program. Bryan said the Program was started to give students leadership experience and direction for their future. They also learn public speaking skills and the importance of giving back to their community. They held a miniature golf tournament that out grossed our Luau. How much did they earn? You should have come to the meeting.

Announcements
Our Oratorical Contest winner, 8 year-old Corie Yaguchi, did well at the Zone 8 contest but did not advance to the area competition.

The Second and last pen pal letters will be coming from our friends at LA Elementary School, Please respond quickly as their school term ends soon.

Gourmet night will be Wednesday, May 3 at Maison Akira. Call Paul Yamaguchi to RSVP at (323) 663-1661. The dinner will be $55.00 per person. (Yes, that means no Cinco de Mayo meeting this year)

Ricksha Absence
Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Ricksha had not published since the first January edition. There will be a make-up edition printed to recap the missing editions.
