Many of the characters are not original to the play, "A Midsummer Night's Dream." William Shakespeare took characters from myths, legends, and some other plays to put in his play. Some people believe that his reasoning for doing so was that he wanted to provide characters that people knew, whether from high social classes or on the lower half of the caste system.
