Day 17. My Feet Hurt.

I guess it's because we walked a lot today. Lots of places.

There was guy we talked to that called Andy Warhol "the icing on the cake," which rocks to hear because so many people seem to have not heard of Andy. Speaking of Andy, I got an issue of Interview. It's a new one, but it has an interview with the main character of "Before Night Falls," which, as it was directed by Julian Schnabel, is another link to Andy. I like getting new magazines.

We hung out in a great coffeeshop on Hawthorne. We played Magic: The Gathering and I think we're kind of getting it now. It's a lot of fun sometimes.

I forgot to mention that last night there was a, well, radio show on a weird station. And the show was just a bunch of sound effects with people going "lalala" in the background and occasionally yelling bizzare and random things. It wasn't music, it was an actual show or something. So I taped it so I could use the sound effects later.

Zavi got me a postcard with a picture of Tim Curry in The Rocky Horror Picture Show! Yaay, Timmy!

Oh, and we went to the Hawthorne branch of Powell's and I found two books that I've been looking for because nearly every single writer at WesterCon highlyhighlyhighly recommended them, so I figure there are things I can learn from them. "Stranger Things Happen" by Kelly Link and "Brown Girl in the Ring" by Nalo Hopkinson.

Day 16. Past and Present: Strange Collision or You cannot attack now. You have summoning sickness.

Today we went to my old college to visit people. I didn't really know how to find them, so we sat in the cafeteria for the better part of the afternoon after having had sandwiches at a coffeeshop elsewhere. We spread our stuff out on the table and started to learn "Magic: The Gathering" from the guided starting packs. I occasionally saw people I knew and would wave and say hi. It was slightly uncomfortable when I wasn't sure if they recognized me. I didn't recognize as many people as I did last year because there's a new class of people I've never met and I guess some people have left.

Then came along Michael, who did recognize me! He knows all about astrology. We talked about it and other things for quite awhile. I saw an old teacher of mine. Someone I knew came up and explained some of M:TG to us. Michael came back later with food and he and some of his friends sat with us as we completed our first game of Magic:TG. Then Zavi and Michael played a game as I tried to learn to contact juggle and kind of failed.

Then we finally met Phillip, whom I've wanted Zavi to meet for quite some time. It was great fun to be around some of the group I hung out with last year, and especially seeing my old roommate. It was odd because nearly every one of us has talked about transferring because we were frustrated with the school for various reasons. Of those people, I'm the only one that actually is doing something about it in leaving. But I guess the cool thing is they're still all there so I can visit them. But it's strange, because hanging out there just feels so safe. I saw that things would have been great for me had I stayed there. Nothing had changed. But it's for that very reason that I'm glad I've left. It's too predictable. Maybe too safe. But it's too late at night to be thinking of these things.

Then we took the bus, intending to go home, but were hungry so we stopped at the Lloyd Center. We ate and then looked for a piercing place for Zavi. The guy at the customer service desk was funny. He was very interested in Andy and wondered why we were carrying it around.

Then I didn't think and figured we were going back when getting on the bus again, so we went back to Concordia instead of on towards downtown, which was wrong. I wish I could buy a sense of direction.

But it was cool because we hung out in my old roommate's new room for awhile and took a long walk and talked to a girl named Lisa for a long time because I think she was bored, but she was cool.

Day 15. Isn't it Amazing That You Can Live Half a Day on One Side of the Country and the Other Half on the Other Side?

It is. I love that. We are here in Oregon now. The departure went smoothly . . . I still can't believe I was in Kentucky for two weeks. Whatever. It was great fun, though!

Now Zavi and I are sitting at our computers and being tired. We listened to Art Bell talk about crop circles. I unpacked. We're listening to other stuff now. There is nothing good on TV, because I only have like ten channels. Which is rather a lot, I guess, but there's nothing on them.

It is cool to be home because I have all of my stuff where I know it is. But I still feel like I wasn't in KY for long enough.

We're going to have fun while here! We have plans! You'll hear more of these after we've actually done these planned things.

Day 14. File Transferrence.

I've no idea if that's how you spell transferrence or not. But it's the way I spell it.

I was too tired last night to finish my entry. The lady we met was unbelievable.

File transferrence is what I did to-day. I've downloaded so many things since I've been here, so now I have to upload them again to places where I know they'll be. Anyway.

Bruce Campbell was on Homicide! He was so good. I don't think I've ever seen him in a serious role before. He was scary. He was great. I wish I could see the next episode, which is a continuation of this one, but we'll be in Oregon and without cable channels.

Yep, we're leaving tomorrow. I can't believe I've been here for a week. It's been so fun.

Eee . . . I'm sleepy . . . I wonder what it is. Maybe the humidity or altitude or something. I sure hope it isn't just because I'm lazy or something.

The Sting just beat the Liberty. That's okay. I like the Liberty better, but the Sting sure looked like the better team, and I want the team with the best chance of beating the Sparks to win. That is, if the Monarchs don't take care of them later to-night.

The minimall was cool. I got a bright orange shirt that says "ESCAPEE" on the front. I got CDs by Delirious and Dido. I got a copy of "Mairelon the Magician," one of my favorite books by P.C. Wrede. I always pick up her books when I find 'em.

Berea is a cool town.

Day 12. To the Falls.

Envy.nu is down again and it really worries me.

The Monarchs beat the Sparks by 20 points in L.A.!! Yeah, Monarchs!!!

Today we went to Cumberland Falls, which was great. I'd gone there last year, so we took fewer pictures but walked farther along the river. We took Remy along, too. We picked up a strange rusty thing. It got very hot. We had a picnic on the way back. But we were very tired when we returned.

We began watching "Before Night Falls," Julian Schnabel's second movie, and so far it is very Julian Schnabel.

Day 11. Fu Fu Berry Soda.

It is a flavour of Jones soda and it is yummy! Jones soda has cool flavours, pictures, and sayings-on-the-lid.

We watched "Giga Shadow" today, and a short film with David Bowie and David Bowie.

I am preoccupied with watching my inbox. It is staying the same and not get any more auditions in. I have some plans for how to get auditions in later on, but people take awhile sometimes, so I will let them do so.
