Did God create people to be gay? In order to properly answer this question, I believe it is best to turn to the Bible to see what it says. The first place that should be examined is the story of Creation itself, Gods blueprint for the world before the entrance of sin and as such should be viewed as the way things were supposed to be. Genesis 1:27-28 says, So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." According to the Creation account, the heterosexual model for relationships was set as a precedent and no mention is made of a homosexual model. Male and female is the only possible pairing that could allow mankind to be fruitful and multiple over the earth. The heterosexual union is mentioned again and again throughout Scripture as Gods plan for marriage and family. Jesus, in speaking of marriage and divorce to the Pharisees, said this in Matthew 19:4-5, Haven't you readthat at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,' and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate." The apostle Paul also reaffirms this in Ephesians 5:31. Both are promoting a heterosexual union through marriage. No mention is made of homosexual relationships and the absence speaks loudly that they were not part of Gods plan. The question then becomes, if God did not create homosexuality, where did it come from? The fall of mankind in the Garden of Eden started a cycle of sin that fed upon itself. The apostle Paul describes this in Romans 1:20-32: "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualitieshis eternal power and divine naturehave been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creatorwho is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them."
