Elizabeth was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma at age 16 and died three years later at 19. Elizabeths family have established this Fund in her memory in the hope that it will help to build a greater awareness for the psycho-social needs of adolescents/young adults, particularly those who suffer from degenerative diseases, chronic illness and severe disabilities. This Fund, which will be administered by the Trustees of the University of Auckland School of Medicine Foundation, continues to be supported by funds raised from the wider community. Donations can be made to this Fund at any time and of any size. Donations to this Fund should be sent to the University of Auckland School of Medicine Foundation, at the address given below, with a stipulation that they are to be used to support the Elizabeth Ewing Memorial Fund. Aim The aim of this Fund is to encourage and promote greater awareness for the need of healthcare providers to acquire the knowledge, skill and understanding of the psychosocial needs of the adolescent /young adult aged patient group suffering from chronic degenerative illness or extreme disabilities.
