Kalbarri Day 1
Page 2
We bypassed Port Denison and Dongara, got some pikkies of Dongara, but we did manage to stop there on the way back.  So, you'll find pikkies of Port Denison in later pages.
Greenough was bigger than I remembered, but, hey, it has been 16 years, so I'm not surprised!  The trees still bend over, tho, that hasn't changed.  It amazes me.  most of the west coast are subject to the same winds, but Greenough seems to attract the bendy trees - not that you don't see bendy trees elsewhere, but they just seem to be concentrated in Greenough.
Geraldton is huge!  I didn't realise how big until we drove over the ridge and there she was, all laid out!  I think it might even be bigger than Bunbury!  We had lunch at Toppolini's Cafe - nice to see a full-size croissant - not squashed!  We actually were opposite the Mercantile Club, also, so we know where to come on Thursday!  We left via the coast road - Chapman Valley Rd.  Nice and relaxing.
We really thought it was going to rain it looked that dark!
We decided to take the south road, so we turned off at Northampton onto the Horrock's Beach Road.  Northampton is a lovely town, very old.  You can see its heritage in the buildings.  I would like to go back and do their historical walk but not in summer - too, too hot!
Kalbarri grew in the distance until we were finally there!
Ah.  We finally made it.  These are the Blue holes.  Great beach fishing, I've heard.
