Membership list shall be maintained by political parties postal district wise. Periodicity for such information shall be laid down by the Government. Members enrolled by every political party shall be informed by the concerned party in writing and reference of the intimation received shall be included in the report submitted to the Government.

This is needed to verify claims of persons in respect of data on enrollment and membership details specially for those who apply for contesting election. Election Commission should be vigilant to check if a person is member of more than one political party at a time and inform concerned parties at the earliest. Concerned political parties shall take all steps to remove this anomaly. If no action is taken by political parties such a person shall not be allowed to contest any election at any time during the period of confusion.
