Penance of Anna Hazare

Honorable President of India had to take note of the issue of corruption. Corruption is the worst ever obstacle in the progress. Eradication of corruption can ensure high growth rate not only six percent but may be sixteen percent.

However, the way chosen by Shri Anna Hazare is much below the level of his strength. Police need to investigate individual cases of corruption. Administration needs to take suitable action in every individual case. Anna should not use his energy for such works. Socialist leader G. P. Pradhan also has given similar advise to Anna. Where as some other people have sarcastically suggested that Anna himself should establish a political party and contest elections. Even some people have dared Anna.

Any person may be great in one respect but cannot be superior to others in all respects. Soft hearted people may not be strong enough to take practical decisions. Those who understand difference between truth and false may not be capable of implementation of truth. Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj offered kingdom to Shree Samantha Ramdas. However, Ramdas did not accept Shivaji's wish. Ramdas did kept himself away from physical pleasures but not intention to serve mankind. He could have accepted the kingdom and no one would have found it wrong. Still he refused because administration of kingdom was not his side of the bread. He could develop person(s) and he did it during and after his life. He had been a teacher all the time and his books do teach even today. Anna should accept the challenge of developing persons who work in politics as per his convictions. Persons who are not selfish, who are efficient in producing results, who have no longing for money either for self or for relatives and friends and who have similar characteristics.

This does not mean Anna should open a school. He should make present politicians to formulate and pass such laws which will make politicians to work for people even at their own cost. These laws should start from filing nominations for an election. There should be law to have certain minimum qualification for a candidate to file nomination. Law to define confidence of a candidate on his own political party (or independent) social work, declaring his wealth every year, declaring wealth of his family and near relatives, age, formal education, and similar. Laws to make election expenditure of candidate nearly zero. Anna should make the Government to pass laws and watch that these are implemented.

Related topic for this is whether it is possible for a single person to give deep and full thought? I feel it is improbable. Ana should take help from common people. He should involve every one and encourage them to contribute. News papers, radio, tv, internet can help in getting contribution from people. We should not forget that laws are useful if the whole lot of people take active participation. Unless people are educated and taught to watch no law can change present situation. There is great need of social workers who can develop society. Anna should take first step in doing this. A group of trained social workers should divide tasks in many parts. They should prepare questionnaire on each of the parts of the tasks. They should collect information and analyse it, scrutinise it and draw a conclusion. This conclusion should be converted in to law. Such laws be implemented.

In my opinion the best way to utilise Anna's strength shall be this.
