Jeff stood in shock at the words she had just uttered. "I killed him." He shook his head, not willing to believe it. He leaned back against the wall, trying to regain his sense of control.

Edge sat in shocked silence as Jami collapsed into a sobbing heap. He walked over to her and gently cradled her in his arms. After a few minutes she turned her tear stained face upward. "What do you mean, you killed him?" Edge asked her quietly. "I mean, I killed him. Well, at least I think I did." she sighed before continuing. "You see, Austin called me one night. Told me that I had hurt him so badly. He asked me why I always hurt everyone who loved me. He told me I was sick, I needed help because of that. He told me I was killing him. That it was all my fault. Then I heard it...the gunshot. He shot himself in the head. So, I killed him in essence." she let out a shaky breath in relief at having told her story. Edge pulled her tightly against him, "Jami, YOU did NOT kill him. He killed himself. YOU weren't and aren't the sick one, HE was. You aren't going to hurt anyone. Damn, how could he have done this to you?" Edge whispered into her hair.

Jeff took off down the hall and into the hot tub room. "Man, you look like you've seen a ghost." Matt joked. Lita jabbed him in the ribs and motioned for Jeff to sit by her in the hot tub, which he did. Then she leaned over and gave him a hug. "she's scared. Don't hold that against her." she whispered. Jeff nodded. "What happened?" A concerned Matt asked. A very shocked Jeff recounted what he had overheard. After he finished he looked around and saw nothing but shock and sorrow written on his friends' faces.
Edge walked into the room a few minutes later. Everyone looked expectantly at him and he offered a small smile. "Uh, Jami went to her room for a few minutes, but she'll be here soon." he sat in the bubbling water and then ducked his head under the water. He came back up in time to see a weary looking Jami shuffle into the room. She offered everyone what she hoped resembled a smile. Christian and Matt both jumped out of the tub. Christian walked towards Jami and gave her shoulders a small hug. "You okay?" he asked, his voice dripping with concern. she nodded and Matt asked, "Are you sure, hun. It's okay to talk to us." Shock raced across Jami's face along with disbelief and pain. Then she whirled on Edge, "you told them! You promised!" she spun and ran out of the room. "But...I didn't!" Edge yelled after her, but it was to late. She was gone.
Edge sank back in the water, confusion etched on his face. No one knew what to say. Finally Jeff spoke up. "Edge, it's my fault. I overheard Jami talking to you. I wasn't thinking clearly when I came back here and told these guys. I'll find Jami and explain it to her." he offered apologetically. "Dude, damn." was all Ege could sat in shock. Jeff climbed out of the hot tub and left the room.

Jami heard the door open and she braced herself for the accusations she was sure were going to come. She was standing outside, underneath the stars, trying to get a grip on her emotions. She heard someone cough behind her before they began to speak. "Uh, the receptionist in the lobby saw you come out here. Are you okay?" Jeff asked. Jami gave a brittle laugh, "I don't deserve to be okay." Jeff stood next to her, watching her carefully out of the corner of his eye. "Listen, Edge didn't tell everyone what happened. I did." he heard Jami gasp. He shuffled his feet before continuing, "I overheard you and Edge talking. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to tell everyone your secret. I'm truly sorry." Jami didn't say anything for a few very long minutes. Then she turned and fled back into the hotel. Jeff stood there for a few more minutes before he turned and entered the hotel himself.

Early the next morning Lita met Edge, Christian, Matt, Jeff and Trish in the hotel resturant for a quick breakfast before they hit the road to go to the next town. Everyone was extremely quiet and subdued as they ate. "So, uh...is Jami okay?" Jeff asked in a hushed voice. Lita swallowed her food before answering. "Uh, I'm not sure. I didn't talk to her this morning." Jeff shot her a suspicious look, "Why?" Lita averted her eyes from his gaze. "Because, well, she left last night." Edge dropped his fork. "what? Where did she go?" Lita shifted uncomfortably in her chair, "I don't know for sure. All I know is that she talked to Vince last night about time off to heal and returning on Monday. Vince agree'd since this was her first real injury plus to help make up for the Shane incident. She packed and took a cab to the airport early this morning, like, around, 1 or 2." she took another bite of toast.
