Edge walked into the hotel exercise room where he had seen Jami disappear moments ago. He saw Jami sitting on a weight bench, holding her head in her hands. She was still in her suit and the towel was tied around her waist. Edge quietly walked towards her, feeling bad for the girl whose heart was obviously breaking. She heard him approaching and looke dup at him, trying to fight back tears. "How much longer do you think it'll be before he figures it out?" Edge wrinkled his brow, "Huh? Figure out what?" "That I'm not good enough for him. That he deserves better. That I'll end up hurting him." Jami cried, standing and walking towards the wall. She stood there, staring at the wall for what felt like centuries. Edge walked up behind her, placing an arm around her shoulders. She turned and pressed her face against his chest and cried.

After Edge and Jami failed to return, Jeff decided to go looking for them. he was walking by the exercise room when a movement caught his eye. He glanced inside and his heart stopped. Jami and Edge were wrapped tightly in each other's arms. He backed away from the room in disbelief, then he stepped into the shadows to see if he was really seeing things correctly.

After a few moments Edge pulled away. He cupped Jami's chin and pushed it up so she was looking at him. He could tell that she was once again trying to fight back tears. "hey, talk to me." he urged her gently. She looked at him with wide eyes and he could see the thoughts conflicting inside her head. "I...I...I don't know." she stuttered. He stood there, waiting patiently before saying, "I know we haven't been close friends, but I'd like for us to get to be that way. I promise that you can talk to me about anything and it will stay just between us." he vowed. Jami's eyes shifted nervously around the room before motioning with her head for him to follow her. She sat on a small trampoline and layed back. Edge followed suit.

"Well, I guess I should start at the beginning. As you know, I grew up in a small town in Iowa. I was never the most popular girl in school, but I did have a group of close friends. I was happy and content. I never thought I had a chance with Austin Kirklake. He was popular, and a total jock. But he did notice me. We were on the newspaper staff together. He was the sports editor and I was a photographer and I wrote a literary section. We often ended up working together. Anyways, we started going out and at first, the relationship was wonderful. He called me, said sweet things to me, brought me little handmade gifts, and was just so sweet. But then after a few months, things started getting weird. He had to know where I was at, at all times. He got jealous if I talked to any male, even if it was a teacher. Before long, it wasn't a relationship, but an obsession. He accused me of cheating on him. Then, he started to get violent. He...he...he hit me a lot. Over the tiniest things. I tried to stop doing things that made him mad, but it never worked. I was always doing something wrong. One night he threw me into a wall. I broke up with him the next day. He begged me not to leave him, he told me I was like his air, that he couldn't breathe without me. He called me about ten times a day, leaving messages on my machine, telling me that I was killing him." Jami stopped talking as the memories continued to flood her mind. Her eyes were blank and fixed on a spot in the ceiling.

Edge grasped her hand tightly. "Oh God, I'm so sorry Jami. You know it wasn't your fault that he hit you...hurt you, right?" he asked. Jami was silent for a moment. "I know in my mind that it wasn't, but I feel like it was. If only I had been more perfect. But that's not the worse part." Jami stopped again as she felt her throat tighten. "What else is there?" Edge asked quietly. Jami lept up and walked halfway across the room, standing still. "Jami?" Edge asked. 'It's now or never' she thought to herself.

Jeff watched her and wanted to hold her and comfort her. He began to step out of the shadows, to walk towards the figure who had her back towards him. He quickly stepped back in the shadows when Jami whirled to face him. Her face was contorted with immense pain. He knew she hadn't seen him when she went on. "I killed him." she whispered to the air before collapsing onto the floor in grief.
