Title: Don't Take That Step
Author: Jami Lynn
Chapter: 18
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the wrestlers used in this story, 'cause if I did, I'd be busy with them right now *grin*. But I do own Jami, for she is me. Tasha owns herself. (Heaven help the person who tries to claim he/she owns either of us). Charity and Mags also own themselves and if you try to take them you will burn in hell! This is the next story in the Step series...it's the Jami/Jeff sequel. And the address to the stories is at the bottom of this email. And I use the wrestlers wrestling names in the story, JUST DEAL WIT IT! And don't bother suing me...all you'd get is a half eaten ham sandwich and a bag of chips from 2 years ago.
Distribution: Ask me if you can use it, more than likely I will say yes.
Rating: So far, it's a PG-13
Content: Nothing bad as of yet, probably won't be anything to bad either....maybe some cussing.
Spoilers: Um...anything can happen and I'm just writing as I go, so I don't know yet *L*.
Summary: Jami needs help to recover, but will she get it?
Feedback: I need feedback like I need air! So give it to me, babee! I have been suffocating lately....so please, send in the feedback.

Jami had silently walked behind the doctor as he made his way out to the waiting room where her friends and family were waiting. She had pulled her hospital robe tightly around her and shrank down into the smallest corner possible. Before long the nurses would begin to notice she wasn't around. It was funny how you could just quickly slip out when you weren't connected to any machine.

Jami's eyes studied some of her friends as the doctor talked. Tasha had a frown on her face, a frown of worry. She knew she would get the whole health talk from her later on. But she also knew that Tasha would understand, that she had been through a lot of this stuff herself.

Jami's eyes turned to watch Lita. Lita was trying to absorb the information as quicly as she could. Lita was comfortable with her body, so she might not understand totally, at least she was willing to try.

Next Jami's eyes found Matt, sitting next to Lita and rubbing the back of her neck to bring some sort of comfort to her. Jami found herself smiling in spite of everything. They looked so right together. Matt had the worried brother look on his face as he sorted the information out in his mind.

Edge was sitting next to Matt, staring at Tasha. Jami could see that he was trying to process the information that the doctor was telling them, but wasn't quite able to concentrate. Jami again smiled, Edge was totally head over heals for Tasha. She knew that they would have to be back in each other's arms someday.

Jami's smile quickly died on her face when she saw her Sister's tear filled blue eyes focused intently on the doctor. She immediently knew that Traci was feeling guilty and Jami had to stop herself from rushing over to her sister to tell her it wasn't her fault. It wasn't Traci's fault that she had always been the perfect one. Tall, Blonde, blue-eyed, skinny, attractive...Traci had always been that. She never had to work on it.

Jami quickly pushed the thoughts out of her head before they overcame her again. This time her eyes landed on Jeff. A tear slowly slid down her face as she saw the fury in his eyes. She knew she had let him down...again. But this time she hadn't meant to. She had been trying to be perfect for him. For her. For everyone. But instead she had fouled up utterly and completely.

Jami heard the doctor tell Jeff that he would have to be cooperative. Her heart dropped to her feet and shattered as Jeff stood up and said "Fuck this." and began to leave the room. Without thinking Jami immediently stepped out from her hiding place to apologize to him, tears running down her face.

Jeff stopped when he saw her and all time seemed to stand still. His words echoed throughout the room, bouncing off of everyone else in the room and flying at Jami. "I'm...I'm sorry Jeff. I never meant to make you hate me. I only wanted you to love your perfect half." Jami whispered before turning and flying back down the hall to the room she was suppose to be in.
