Title: Don't Take That Step
Author: Jami Lynn
Chapter: 16
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the wrestlers used in this story, 'cause if I
did, I'd be busy with them right now *grin*. But I do own Jami, for she is me.
Tasha owns herself. (Heaven help the person who tries to claim he/she owns
either of us). Charity and Mags also own themselves and if you try to take them
you will burn in hell! This is the next story in the Step series...it's the Jami/Jeff
sequel. And the address to the stories is at the bottom of this email. And I use
the wrestlers wrestling names in the story, JUST DEAL WIT IT! And don't bother
suing me...all you'd get is a half eaten ham sandwich and a bag of chips from 2
years ago.
Distribution: Ask me if you can use it, more than likely I will say yes.
Rating: So far, it's a PG-13
Content: Nothing bad as of yet, probably won't be anything to bad
either....maybe some cussing.
Spoilers: Um...anything can happen and I'm just writing as I go, so I don't know
yet *L*.
Summary: Something is seriously wrong with Jami!!! But what is it?
Feedback: I need feedback like I need air! So give it to me, babee! I have been
suffocating lately....so please, send in the feedback.

Jeff was sitting quietly in the waiting room with Traci sitting on one side of
him. Lita was on his other side, trying to comfort him.Jeff's head lifted as he
heard the waiting room door open. He watched as Edge took a small brown paper
bag over to the nurses station.
Tasha immediently headed for Jeff. She dropped down to her knees in front of
Jeff and grabbed his clasped hands in her own two hands. "Jeff, hun, how
are you doing?" Tasha asked. "What was she taking? Tylenol? Sleeping
pills? What?" Jeff asked her, ignoring the question she had asked him.
Tasha hesitated for a moment, but when Jeff looked at her she knew she had to
tell him. "We found three different brands of appetite supressents and
weight loss pills." Tasha whispered to him.
Jeff's eyes glazed over in shock for a few moments. "No...she wouldn't do
that." Jeff said numbly. "Jeff, baby, I know this is hard for you to
believe. But Jami was taking diet pills, she was even keeping a journal to keep
track of how much she ate and how much she lost." Tasha told him. "no,
not Jami." Jeff uttered.
"Jeff, you and I, as well as Tasha and Lita know that Jami has had problems
with eating disorders in the past." Traci whispered. "Yeah, but she
was so confident. How could this have happened?" Jeff asked.
"Jeff, hun...something like an eating disorder does not go away. You never
recover from it. You are always in a stage of recovery. Therefore relapses can
happen." Tasha explained to him. "No...no.." was all Jeff could
say.
A few minutes later the doctor walked out to talk to Jeff. "Jeff, can I ask
you a few questions?" he asked. Jeff nodded. "Did you know that Jami
was taking appetite supressents and weight loss pills?" The doctor asked.
"No...I saw her taking pills occasionally but when I asked her what she was
taking she said it was tylenol. Are you sure she was taking them?" Jeff
asked, still finding it hard to believe.
"yes, her blood work showed high levels of the ingredients that were found
in the pills. Can you tell me about your wife's eating habits?" the doctor
asked. "She ate." was all Jeff said.
"Actually, she never ate around us. She'd occasionally nibble on something
when she had too. But lately she seemed to be making excuses to eat away from
us. She'd always claim she was sick and she'd say she would eat at the hotel or
something." Tasha told the doctor, realizing that Jeff wasn't able to
concentrate fully on the question. The doctor smiled at Tasha thankfully before
leaving the room.
The Undertaker walked into the room. He strode over to where the group seemed to
be centered. "So what happened?" he asked, point blank. Jeff still had
a dazed look about him. This time Lita decided to let Tasha save her breath from
having to repeat the story once again.
"All we really know right now is that Jami passed out in the ring. Then
Tasha found that Jami had three types of appetite supressants and weight loss
pills. Jami has a history of suffering from eating disorders. The doctors found
that she had high levels of the pills in her system and she hasn't regained
consciousness." Lita summaraized.
The Undertaker ran a hand through his short hair. "Why the hell does that
little girl keep putting herself through this shit?" he asked. Lita
shrugged.
"My sister always puts herself through this shit. For some reason she
thinks she deserves it. That's why she put up with Austin's shit and why she now
puts herself through it." Traci said. "But why?" Edge asked.
"Anything could have set her off this time. Maybe she was still feeling
guilty over losing the baby, or the whole fight everyone had just been through
about the cheating thing. Or...it could have been what I started with the whole
pregnancy thing. If you aren't pregnant you don't want to hear a bunch of
accusations that you are pregnant." Traci whispered.
"Traci, you can't blame yourself. We all thought she was pregnant."
Lita said.
"Nobody needs to blame theirselves. The only one who made this decision was
Jami. If anyone is to blame, it's her." Jeff said with a sudden outburst of
fury.
