Jeff emerged from the locker room and Jaylynn
found her eyes roaming over him in approval. He had taken a shower, so his
hair was wet, pulled back into a ponytail. He wore a pair of baggy blue jeans,
clunky black boots, a white wife beater, and a blue checkered shirt over that.
Jeff noticed her gaze and arched a perfect
eyebrow over his emerald eyes. "You look good too." he smiled and Jaylynn
turned red. "I...uh...yeah. So um....Are we ready to go?" Jaylynn asked.
"Sure am. What are you hungry for?" Jeff asked
as they walked side by side down the hallway. Jaylynn turned red again at the
dirty thought that popped into her head. "I, um, don't care. Just food." she
said.
Jeff smirked as he held the arena door open to
usher Jaylynn through it. He placed his hand on the small of her back as they
walked up the ramp. Fans were already gathered, hoping to catch their favorite
Superstars as they tried to slip out of the arena undetected.
"Ohmigod. It's Jeff Hardy. And he's with Angel!"
a girls voice exclaimed. Flashes went off and Jaylynn tried not to stumble
over her own feet.
"Do you mind if I..." Jeff trailed off his
question. Jaylynn smiled and shook her head. "Nope. I'd like to stop and sign
too."
The couple headed over to the fans and signed
papers and pictures. They posed for pictures and talked with fans. Jaylynn
recognized the young boy from earlier as he approached her. "So, Jeff Hardy is
the reason you won't forgive SHane McMahon?" the boy accused.
Jaylynn briefly wondered if she should coach the
boy on the fact that he had no right to know anything about her personal life
but she held her tongue. "Shane was better for you. You could tell that he
loves you." the boy continued.
Jaylynn remained silent. She refused to look up
from the autographs she was signing. "Shane McMahon doesn't deserve her. He
hurt her and nobody should hurt her." She heard Jeff say from behind her.
"Come on, lets get out of here." Jeff whispered to her.
Jaylynn nodded and they turned to walk off
towards their cars. Jaylynn was visibly upset. First the encounter with Shane,
and then the two encounters with the kids who seemed like Shane's biggest
supporter. Jeff reached down and grabbed her hand. Jaylynn felt relief surge
through her momentarily.

Jaylynn leaned back in the booth and watched the
people around her. She could feel Jeff's green eyes watching her as she looked
around and fought to keep herself from meeting his eyes. They had decided to
eat at Applebee's and both had driven over in their separate cars. Now they
sat across from each other, their plates empty and with a waitress that was
more than happy bring them more alcohol.
Jaylynn felt nervous. Like she was 15 and going
on her first date. This was Jeff. He friend Jeff. What did she have to be
nervous about? Well, besides the fact that if they kept drinking, they'd end
up in the same situation that had started this whole mess.
Neither seemed particularly talkative and
Jaylynn wondered what he was thinking about before the waitress clunked the
check down on their table. Jeff threw some money down before shooting a
seductive smile at Jaylynn. "You ready to get out of here?" he asked and
Jaylynn nodded.
As they stood by her car, Jeff wrapped his arms
around her and gave her a huge hug. Jaylynn laid her head on his chest and
enjoyed the feel of his arms around her. Then Shane McMahon's voice cut
through her thoughts. "You know, your friends are all that innocent either."
