Jaylynn let her eyes roam around the party exactly 45 minutes later. She was
waiting for the appropriate time to slip out of the party and head over to
the bar to talk to Jeff. Her watch kept reminding her that time dragged.
Her brown eyes lit up when she spotted Shane Helms staring at her from
across the room and a feeling of dread soon overshadowed it. Angela was
placed in the middle of the room, and ironically, in between them. And
Jaylynn wasn't sure if she could cross that small amount of space to get to
either of them. And at the moment, she wasn't sure she wanted to.
Deciding that it was all to much to handle, she quickly made her exit,
hoping that no one would follow. The three of them in one room with Jeff
Hardy floating around in the midst was a combustible situation, and it
seemed best to remove one element, herself, out of the equation at least
temporarily.
Jaylynn sat down at the bar, ordered a Long Island Ice Tea and gave the
bartender a flirty wink and smile. Jaylynn felt it was never a bad move to
butter the bartender up. Free drinks were definitely a perk in this
business.
As she slipped on her drink, she glanced around the dark bar. A few of the
other wrestlers were seeking refuge in there and Jaylynn grinned when she
saw Amy and Matt attempting a make out session while Shannon Moore tried in
vain to talk to Matt.
"Hey, you are here early." Jeff's voice greeted her from behind. Jaylynn
focused her attention on him and smiled brightly. "Yeah, I needed to get out
of there for a bit. To much commitment gives me hives." Jaylynn grinned and
Jeff laughed.
"So....we are pretty much over, aren't we?" Jeff asked after a bit of
silence stretched between the two of them. Jaylynn felt the blood rush
straight from her head and found herself weaving a bit on the bar stool.
"What?" she stammered, trying to keep from falling over completely. Maybe
she would be able to blame it on the alcohol if she did.
"I know you are in love with Helms. It doesn't take a genius to figure it
out. And I know that you aren't in love with me. And it doesn't take a
rocket scientist to figure that out. Which is good 'cause I'm neither. But
I'm guessing you want to end this and I thought that I might as well break
up with myself as you would probably get all nervous and tell me you were a
lesbian or something. Ya know, get my hopes up about getting to watch." Jeff
tried to lamely joke.
Jaylynn took a huge gulp of the Long Island Ice Tea, feeling the mixture of
alcohol relieve the sudden urge she had to band her head against the bar in
an extremely unlady like fashion. "I....Jeff, I care for you. I really do.
You are a great guy." Jaylynn started to say but Jeff stopped her. "I know
all that. I'm Jeff Fucking Hardy. I'm like a God or something." Jeff grinned
jokingly before continuing. "I understand. Don't ask me how, but I do. And I
don't want to put myself in the situation where I have to worry that you are
always imagining Helms instead of me. I'm doing this for me, not you." Jeff
told her simply.
Jaylynn struggled to fight back tears. Who was breaking up with who here?
"Jeff....I....I didn't mean for this to happen. I hope we can remain
friends." Jaylynn tearfully told him as she stared straight into the nearly
empty glass in front of her. "we will. Hey, I became your friend after I
hated you, right? I'm sure I will get over this too. I want to be part of
your life, and I want to have you as part of mine. I hope that we can manage
that somehow." Jeff smiled sadly at her.
Jaylynn nodded, looking at him with dark, wide eyes. "thanks Jeff. I'm not
sure exactly what just happened here, but thanks." Jaylynn whispered,
kissing him gently on the cheek before getting up and leaving, trying hard
not to weave from the amount of alcohol that had suddenly invaded her
system.
Jeff watched her go, feeling tears burning in his throat. He knew it was for
the best. That they both deserve to find true love. But he truly had cared
for her. And he knew that what he was feeling at that moment was his heart
breaking. Jeff turned to the bartender and ordered a double vodka shot.
