Jaylynn let herself into her hotel room, flinging her shoes off in relief.
she had left Jeff down at the bar and now she was rethinking the
intelligence of that move. Not the part of ending their relationship, but
leaving him in the bar. Last time he had gotten a bit drunk, they had ended
up in bed together.
Sighing, Jaylynn grabbed her phone and punched in a number. "Hey Shannon,
it's Jaylynn....Yeah, I'm excited about the ceremony tomorrow.....I actually
called to ask you a favor. You see, Jeff and I sort of ended our
relationship. I'm not sure who ended it, as crazy as that sounds. But it was
one of those sort of mutual-parting on good terms things....Yeah, so I left
him down at the bar and I'm not sure that was the smartest move....Yeah, if
you'd go check on him I'd be eternally grateful. Thanks." Jaylynn hung up
the phone and nearly jumped out of her skin when a knock came at her door.
She was even more startled to see a slightly teetering Shane Helms in front
of her.
"Shane...." Jaylynn greeted, not sure what to say. "Jaylynn, I need to get
something off my chest." Shane slurred slightly.
"Um, okay. come in." Jaylynn offered, moving aside to let him enter. He
immediately flunked down on the bed, holding his head in his hands. "Shane,
what's wrong?" Jaylynn asked, beginning to worry.
"I am scum. I am worse than scum. I'm the mucus on scum." Shane started to
ramble but Jaylynn cut him off. "Shane, this isn't the movie 'My Best
Friend's Wedding', so stop quoting it. Now...just tell me why you are so
upset." She instructed, sitting down next to him.
"No, really. I'm a horrible, horrible person. You should hate me. I hate
me." Shane mumbled into his hand. "I don't hate you. Please tell me what's
wrong." Jaylynn soothed.
"I did something really really bad. Bad bad. Evil bad. Sick bad." Shane
rambled again. "I get it. Bad. What did you do? I'm sure it's forgivable.
You couldn't have gotten into to much trouble with all these people around."
Jaylynn smiled.
"I did this awhile ago. I Just never had the guts to confess. But I have to
confess now. I have to be honest with you. I love you and I feel you have to
know the truth." Shane said, sounding more sober. Jaylynn felt her heart
flip at the words, "I love you" but decided to take care of the problem at
hand.
"Shane, things always seem worse when you are drunk." Jaylynn told him. "I
felt like this before I started drinking. But I was hoping that if I drank
enough, that feeling would go away. It didn't. I have to confess." Shane
instructed.
Jaylynn nodded. "Okay, confess then." She instructed, sure that it would be
something small. "Did Jeff hit on you really bad for awhile before you two
got together? I mean, aggressively?" Shane asked.
Jaylynn felt her heart thump and heat flood her face as she remembered the
encounters. "yes. What does that have to do with this?"
The next words that stumbled out of his mouth made the blood rush from her
face and her heart stop painfully. "Shane McMahon and I paid him to do
that."
