Jaylynn sat in the women's
locker room, trying to remember if she had everything she needed before leaving.
The only thing she knew for sure is that whoever said that the chair shots were
fake and didn't hurt, had never taken one to the head.
A shadow crossed Jaylynn's face and she looked up to see Angela staring down at
her. "Hey." Jaylynn gulped, afraid the other girl could read all her
transgressions on her face. "I think we should talk. Alone." Angela told her.
Jaylynn nodded and picked up her back to follow the other woman out of the room.
As they walked quietly through the hallways, Jaylynn felt oddly like a man on
death row taking the long walk to the chamber. Finally they reached the chamber,
erm, conference room.
Jaylynn gingerly sat down in one of the chairs and Angela sat across the table
from her. For a few moments, neither woman talked, and the suspense was about to
kill them both. "Listen...I know what happened between you and Shane Helms..."
Angela began and Jaylynn cast her eyes down, mumbling, "I'm sorry."
Angela looked at her sharply before continuing. "And if you two want to be
together, I'm fine with that. I would appreciate you at least waiting til he had
the decency to break this thing with me off. Same goes for Jeff and you." Angela
said, drawing a pack of Marlboro Ultra Lights out of her pocket and immediately
sliding one between her lips. Jaylynn watched her in shock as she slid the pack
back into her jacket pocket. "I smoke when I'm upset. Which isn't often." Angela
explained, lighting the cigarette and inhaling deeply.
Jaylynn nodded before speaking. "Angela...I didn't mean for anything to happen
between me and Shane. Honestly I didn't. And I stopped it from going further
because of you and Jeff." Jaylynn decided to tell her honestly. Angela nodded,
taking another drag off her cigarette. "That's what he said. That you stopped it
because you were afraid of hurting me and Jeff."
Jaylynn swallowed painfully. "Shane told you about it?" she asked. "Yeah. He
broke it off with me. Said that he realized now that he was only hurting me by
being with me while he was in love with someone else. With you. He told me about
you coming to his hotel room and him being aggressive. How things would have
gotten carried away, but you stopped it. I can understand your feelings, but why
did you have to go to his hotel room?" Angela asked, blowing smoke out with the
question, her voice echoing how upset she was.
"I...I don't know. I wanted to talk to someone about how confused I was feeling.
Shane had mentioned his room number earlier and before I knew it, I was there.
Things got carried away when I stepped in the door. But I never ever meant to
hurt either you or Jeff. I care about both of you." Jaylynn told her quietly
Angela snubbed her cigarette out. "You have an odd way of showing it. But I'm
getting out of here before the shock wears off and I get pissed." Angela
declared as she stood up and stalked out of the room. Jaylynn folded her arms
and rested them on the table, laying her head on top of them. She took a few
deep breaths, wondering what the hell she was to do now.
